Now David Letterman knows who his friends are and there are plenty of them.
At Monday night's New York City screening of the HBO documentary Good Hair, its star and co-director Chris Rock had nothing but the best to say about Letterman, blackmail scandal or no.
"He's the greatest host in the world," said Rock, 44, at the Cinema Society event sponsored by Target. "I would never make a disparaging comment about David Letterman." Talk-show host Wendy Williams is also behind Letterman 100 percent. "I like him even more," she said. "He did a disgusting thing. But I thought it was really great that he came out and told his own story. The real crime is the blackmail."
Some didn't even see anything wrong with revelations that Letterman had carried on affairs with women who worked for him.
"I don't see anything wrong with it," said Sandra Denton, better known as Pepa of Salt-n-Pepa. "I might have been one of the girls. He's a man ... and he's kind of cute!"

I’m starting to wonder if the human race is destined for extinction...I guess once the Marxists take over I hope I’m around long enough to watch these hollywood morons lined up against the wall by those that they thought were their friends.
Not only are stars standing by Letterman, but it would appear that viewers are also standing by David, in that he is doing very well in the ratings.
Where did she stand on allegations of workplace sexual harassment when Clarence Thomas was undergoing Senate confirmation?
Viewers will tune in to watch a train wreck in progress.
I don’t think the lawyers are going to care if ole Dave is on the A list or not.
“I like him even MORE”??? OMG!! Every word that comes out of their mouths is VILE.
I guess Gloria Steinem wasn't intending to take us to this place, but this is where we ended up.
I confess to stopping and gawking at the tv for 2 minutes when Gaddafi spoke at the UN (and this was before the talk radio hosts had begun to point out how nutty his rant was).
Remember that some female journalist said that she’d be willing to give Bill Clinton a Lewinsky because he held the right stance on abortion (and with all of his affairs, why wouldn’t he be in support of hiding his bastard children?).
The pop culture is hanging with Dave for the soap opera.
This is a temporary thing. Eventually they will be bored with it.
Why do people think he aired his dirty laundry again last night?
After awhile the dirty laundry will sit and just stink.
Wellwaddayaknow. To hollywood Letterman is a choir boy.
He a lying sneaky pervert who has no problem make light of other people when he himself is a guilty of much worst.
Some didn’t even see anything wrong with revelations that Letterman had carried on affairs with women who worked for him.
“I don’t see anything wrong with it,” said Sandra Denton, better known as Pepa of Salt-n-Pepa. “I might have been one of the girls. He’s a man ... and he’s kind of cute!”
Well I guess that says it all from the voice of the morally bankrupt.
It’s not illegal to be a pig.
I don’t watch Letterman since I do not watch TV.
However, he has been winning his time slot for quite some time, long before this latest ‘scandal.’
It would be a different story if it were Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh.
Chris Rock as an endorsement?
Well, it wasn’t sex-sex.
“He made a joke about loving the fall weather in New York, and about how it was getting mighty chilly,” said an audience member from Austin. “He was making fun of the situation. If it’s chilly here, you can only imagine how chilly things were at home.”
I’m sure his homely wife is as outraged and shocked as, say, Hillary Clinton, after the one-hundredth infidelity by Slick Willie.
Birds of a feather flock together: here, democratic s***-birds.
Mr. Polanski is indisposed at the moment, but Woody Allen sends his support!
What stars are these?
Letterman is a prize, leftist schmuck!
No. He was losing badly to Jay Leno for 10+ years before Leno left The Tonight Show this summer. Lately, he has occasionally been beating the Conan train wreck, but that is nothing to boast about.
Hey Dave remember the stars were 100% behind Roman up until last week. Sleep tight perv.
Okay, he was not beating Leno, but has been beating Conan even after the Palin thing, the Obama thing and now through this scandal.
“Stars Stand By David Letterman....”
Big shocker there!....They’re all from the same dufus gene pool....
“I like him even more,” she said. “He did a disgusting thing.”
Well, everyone to their own taste.
Letterman is blackmailed by a CBS news producer, who threatens to break the news about his little trysting place provided by CBS. It’s all sweetness and light at CBS.
The people defending Letterman are precisely the people who would demand the head of an ordinary man who committed sexual harassment. Liberals are good at circling the wagons.
It would be if he was a Republican. However, using young interns as “comfort women” is pretty bad.
Why are people surpised? I mean, you can stand by someone if they’re your friend, and still say what they did was wrong. My best friend cheated on her husband. She paid the price...am I going to throw our friendship away..NO. That’s not how I roll. We are all sinners..we all fall..it’s how you get up. and if people act right and try to make things right, then they deserve forgiveness. Judging the act is different than deserting a friendship.
Hey! They are all supporting the child rapist Polanski so why not support someone who just goes out and boinks any female that is somewhat willing.
I say “somewhat” because some of the women were in positions where he could have had taken detrimental actions if they did not comply with his advances.
More liberal hypocrisy.
"I'd rather be a pig than a Fascist!"
there were consenting adults. i have no problem with the sex. my issue is his constant moral belittling of other prominent figures. for that, he is a douche.
Frankly, I’m tired of hearing about the guy. So what? The dude got laid. Good for him.
Respect for the Rule of Law is a pretty fundamental Conservative value and to simply ignore the potential violations in Letterman's case, like the left is doing with Polanski in a different "the dude got laid" scenario, doesn't seem right to me.
What law was broken in the Letterman indident? Not a feasible comparison with Polanski.
Of course the sluts and degenerates of the entertainment complex stand behind David Letterman. They are all just as bad, if not worse. They identify with his depravity.
1)I said they were different.
2)There are several very serious sexual harassment and workplace laws that MAY have been broken and we shall have to see if anybody files charges.
1) The only person accusing Letterman of harassment is the lawyer defending the man accused of extortion.(The actual criminal in the case).
2) Would Letterman be so forthright if he was guilty of workplace misconduct?
I need to see evidence to the contrary before I can make a determination as to the criminal nature of his behavior. I’ve fished off the company pier without engaging in criminal behavior. Does that make me criminal or immoral? Assumptions are a bitch sometimes when we dislike the accused.
So far you are correct and there may never be charges filed. But a large number of talking heads on TV and radio and internet think that maybe there have been very serious laws broken. We'll see.
Would Letterman be so forthright if he was guilty
Of course he would. He is smart and believes in self-preservation. Regardless of the facts someone in his position is going to have spoken to a lawyer and will put the most innocent face possible on his public persona.
Assumptions are a bitch sometimes when we dislike the accused.
It is not illegal, immoral or unethical to speculate about the facts in a certain situation. I have not accused him of anything. I recognize only the possible legal conflicts inherent in the situation.
You, IMO, seem to be defending him personally but perhaps this is just a perception.
Yup. Nina Burleigh, NPR spokeshole:
“Stars” is the wrong term for these people - “wealthy narcissistic lowlifes” seems more descriptive... Then again, that’s kind of long... anyone got something we can call these people?
I’m not defending him although it probably appears that way. I guess the intent of my initial post was that I don’t care. I say so what! I hate Hollywood and personally regard this as a non-issue. Sorry it took so long for me to express it ;o)
Not a problem whatsoever. :0)
And he’s UGLY!
