As reported on NewsBusters on Friday morning, CNN anchor Rick Sanchez read his apology on Fridays Newsroom for running a unconfirmed quote attributed to Rush Limbaugh earlier in the week on October 12 [audio available here].
Sanchez hinted to his error in a promo for the apology 37 minutes into the 3 pm Eastern hour: Rush Limbaugh gets denied [his NFL bid], but when it comes to one specific point, I will tell you this: he was right and I was wrong. Sometimes you got to say youre wrong when youre wrong, right? I'll tell you exactly what Im talking about when we come back.

These folks tell vicious lies and all they have to do is apologize when they get caught and then continue along their merry way.. Rush speaks the truth and he is vilified and made a pariah.
Whole lotta good that does ... closing the barn door. BUT an apology is not quite complete without a promise never to do it again. I’m not going to watch the video but would make a bet that didn’t happen.
I would think an on air apology would be perfect evidence in a libel (or is it slander, I can never get the two straight) lawsuit.
Not that he went on National TV and tried to destroy the Character of someone, with no verification of the facts.
Well I guess liberals will always be liberals!
That’s a good strategy. Tell lies. Damage your adversary. Then apologize.
Slander=Spoken Note the S’s
Libel/Literature, i.e., written
That is what I came up with to keep ‘em straight.
now crawl back under your rock and stay off the streets!
I believe slander is spoken word, libel is written
When will the Twin Race Baiters apologize for slandering Rush?
Wasn’t Sanchez in a hit-and-run accident, where the other party later died from the sustained injuries?
then the left will swear he was right in the first place (with no verification) and that sanchez was forced into the apology by right wing goons..
in any event, mission accomplished..Rush is out as minority owner of the Rams..

It happened on Dec. 10, 1990. Mr. Sanchez, seriously drunk behind the wheel, with his dad
as passenger, was leaving a Miami Dolphins game. He had barely left the stadium parking area
before he hit a man who was running between cars, and who (unfortunately) was also drunk.
Undoubtedly helped by invisible friends on the police force, Sanchez was not charged with
causing the accident, but was later charged with (and pleaded no contest to) DUI.
But here’s the cowardly part:
Sanchez initially left the scene of the accident for 2 full hours.
One local report said he first went home to get his license and fell asleep. (Yeah, right.)
Anyway, by the time he meandered back to the scene and his dilly-dallying cop friends
tested him for alcohol, it was at least four hours after the accident. Even with all his friends
helping him, Sanchez’s blood still registered .15 — way above the then-legal-limit of .10.
Closing chapter for victim: The Miami Herald, Nov. 2, 1995
“Jeffrey Smuzinick, who was left paralyzed after being struck by the car of Channel 7 anchor
Rick Sanchez, died Monday in a Pennsylvania nursing home. He was 36. Smuzinick was injured
Dec. 10, 1990, after he ran out into traffic following a Dolphins football game. He was struck by
A 1991 Volvo driven by Sanchez. Smuzinick suffered severe head injuries and was in a coma
for many months. He underwent rehabilitation in Florida ...”
These quotes were repeated several times on many channels, just one guy apologizing one time does not cut it
... After he is fired and run out of town ...
"Oops. I was wrong. It was just one of those crazy Internet rumors. I'm sorry."
All better now.
Does Sanchez think Sarah Palin said, “I can see Russia from my house!”? Putz!
Sanchez didn’t actually say he was wrong or even admit that the quote attributed to Limbaugh was false.
He just said that he had been “unable to independently confirm” the quote and that he should not have reported it “without independent confirmation.”
For that (reporting it without independent confirmation) he apologized.
TOO LATE! GET A LAWYER...YOU WILL NEED ONE!
Despicable record for Sanchez and his hit and run.
does this mean he got served papers already for the lawsuit?
Too late, Sanchez worm, I hope Rush sues even the earwax out of your ears.
Talk show host Steve Malzberg said that since Sanchez didn’t say Rush REPORTEDLY said, but instead reported it as fact, he most likely opened himself up to a huge libel suit.
That’s why the apology, which I’m sure Rush will accept as a vindication.
:-)
BTW if anybody hasn’t checked out the FREE podcasts of Steve Malzberg and Roger Hedgecock, these guys are spectacular IMHO.
Rush waited to long to strike back. The lies are now fact. Explaining this to loyal listeners was nice but so what . He needed to come out fast and hard. Must be taking advice from Rove. To anyone but his devoted fans , all he will be remembered for are the lies .
Takes ten words to tell a lie, and ten million words to disprove it.
Just damn, guess who wins?

That’s why I’m saying...if I had $100 million dollars, I donn’t care if they’re the Pope, I’d sue the hell out of them for defamation and libel and create the biggest stink in the history of US journalism.
A (much) less destructive version of this “too good to check syndrome” pops up all the time on FR.
A freeper runs across a quote on the interwebs from Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington or some other famous person. The quote is posted without any real attempt to find out whether the person actually said any such thing.
It happens because the statement so exactly mirrors the posters own belief system that it MUST be true. What would be the point of checking it?
The odd thing is that when I or others point out the inaccuracy of the quote, the reaction is often anger, as if we’re disagreeing with the meaning of the statement rather than its attribution.
Similarly, liberals KNOW Rush is a racist, because he’s conservative and X = Y. So when a convenient quote shows up to prove something they already know to be a fact, they rush it onto the air.
IOW, he’s not a racist because of these fake quote, he’s racist because he’s conservative and the fake quotes merely illustrate a self-evident fact.
He’s protecting himself from being sued. Period.
Another of the new style apologies — you know, the ones where you don’t actually say “I’m sorry.”
Too little too late imo.
Did you say that Sanchez apologized for being a....
guess he’s guilty huh?
Oh, my bad! LOL my bad.
I’ll try and remember that, thanks!
