Crew removed from Oct. 31 game

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Southeastern Conference has suspended officials from last weekend's Arkansas-Florida game after the crew was involved in its second controversial call of the year.

Referee Marc Curles' crew called a personal foul on Arkansas defensive lineman Malcolm Sheppard in the fourth quarter as the Gators were rallying for a 23-20 victory. The league said there was no video evidence to support the call.

The same group of officials called the LSU-Georgia game earlier this month, which included a late unsportsmanlike conduct penalty the league said shouldn't have been called.

"A series of calls that have occurred during the last several weeks have not been to the standard that we expect from our officiating crews," SEC commissioner Mike Slive said Wednesday. "I believe our officiating program is the best in the country. However, there are times when these actions must be taken."

Hah, have they seen the officiating at the baseball playoffs.

Something is seriously wrong with the refs and umps.

Stating the obvious, I know.

The officiating was very one-sided in this game, no question. The final box score shows 10 penalties for 92 yards against Arkansas while Florida was only flagged three times for 16 yards. Considering that it wound up being a 3 point game, those calls you mentioned most definitely influenced the outcome the game and helped Florida win. It was a shameful display and I say that as someone who wanted Florida to win the game. Kudos to the SEC for calling this crew out and putting the rest of their officiating crews on notice.

“UAR that day was close to UF, but alas for you, they were not the equal to UF or better.”

Your assessment is laughable and defies credibility.

Without question, UAR was the better team on the field.

Without question, those were two HORRIBLE calls. Practically criminal.

Justice would see to it that those officials NEVER officiated any more than a Pop Warner game after that.

And I love Tim Tebow.

Here is the third bad call, a non-call of offensive pass interference. The Arkansas player was in position to intercept Tebow’s pass, but the Florida receiver clearly pushed him in the back and knocked him off balance to prevent the interception that would have killed Florida’s chances to win. Penalty should have moved Florida back 10 or 15 yards, or whatever that penalty is.

Florida did not deserve that victory.

Sorry but I don’t need to go to your home website that you posted. I can understand however how a site that appeals to the delusional is attractive to someone who thinks one call not on the last play changes the outcome of a football game.

BTW on the first play, I can see the DB run his shoulder into the chest of the WR in the first clip. It was a defensive pass interference that might have been called or might not have been called, but it was hardly an outrageous call. If you actually watched football games or knew anything about the sport and its rules, you would be more circumspect.

I guess reading comprehension isn’t required to be a UF fan. Sorry. My bad.

As I said in my first post, that call was the excuse, but the reason was the truly awful call at the end of UGa v. LSU. Back to Dim underground with you now.

Sorry to hear that you were not able to watch the game last Saturday.

I did see those two calls on TV. The first was very, very marginal and should have been a no-call. The second was utterly bogus. Coming back to back as they did, when Florida was making its first significant drive of the afternoon, stunk to high heaven.

And I don't have dog in this hunt, I wasn't rooting for either team.

As a long time SEC football watcher and grad of an SEC school, I can honestly say that SEC football officiating has been, for YEARS, the absolute worst in all of organized sports.

A forfeit is also in order. The Hogs was robbed.

Speaking of forfits, let's spare a moment to pity poor Delaware State University which became the only modern college team that I'm aware of to lose two games in a single day. When the school administration agreed to schedule their inevitable 63-6 drubbing at the hands of the Wolverines - and the $550,000 payout that went with it - they had overlooked the fact that they were already scheduled to play North Carolina A&T that same weekend. The game could not be rescheduled so in addition to their loss to Michigan they forfeited the game to NCA&T. Two losses, one day.

Unless you can prove FLA was in on it then you cant take the ‘win’ from them.
