There’s some real predators out there.
It's "slunk meat." I'm sure Ackroyd meant "slunk" to have the William Burroughs definition given in his novel Naked Lunch: a filthy calf under six weeks old, too young to be sold for food. "Slunk meat" is thus illegal and is likely to sicken whoever eats it.
Since I can't find that definition of "slunk" in an online dictionary, maybe Burroughs just made it up.
