Dick Morris says Christie going to win.
10/26/2009 | Self

I just heard Dick Morris on Hannity say that Christie IS going to win in NJ. I know some of you disagree with me but I think Morris is one of the most astute, and best, current political thinkers. So I'm feeling more confident that the GOP is going to win TWO governorships on Nov. 3rd. Now if Hoffman can win NY-23, that will really be the icing on the cake!

I'd feel a whole lot more comfortable about the accuracy of a Morris prediction if it had something to do with toe-sucking. Since this doesn't, you'll have to color me skeptical.

Having said that, if Christie can somehow manage to pull this out - especially considering the ineptitude of his campaign - it will be a shot heard 'round the American political chattering class leading many on the left to increase their pucker-factor exponentially.

Christie has a chance, but it’s just replacing a liberal with a RINO.

Hoffman is very likely not going to win. Owens has 35%, which is enough in a 3-way race, unless NY allows for a runoff election. Hoffman would beat Owens straight up.

The third party candidate is kind of fading.

Christie is a RINO but that beats Daddy War Bucks by a mile.

Unfotuantately a RINO is about all conservatives can hope for in NJ.

Morris is simultaneously one of our more insightful political pundits—and not very good at predictions. It’s kind of like how you don’t want to follow stock tips from even a very good economist.

But fingers crossed for Christie anyway.

I’ll go along with it, because I WANT to believe that Corzine will be ejected from the governor’s mansion like... well, like a foolish but arrogant passenger with no seatbelt on gets ejected from his car seat in a high speed crash into a guardrail. With a state trooper driving.

But historically, NJ voters manage to take disappointment to a whole ‘nuther level. So I’m not gonna let my hope for change get out of hand.

Turnout factor....are the Dems motivated enough to turn out in numbers to boost Owens? Less ACORN and Obama coat tails should be a close one with Hoffman!

"Owens has 35%, which is enough in a 3-way race, unless NY allows for a runoff election. Hoffman would beat Owens straight up."

I was wondering about run-offs in NY earlier today. I looked around, but couldn't find any mention of a possible runoff in this NY-23 three-way race. Do you know for a fact that this will come down to a run-off, assuming of course no one is able to get the prescribed percentage of voters - whatever that may be?

Well, I’m for some forms of gun control. For example, I don’t think convicted felons should be allowed to purchase, own or carry guns. Same for people confined to mental institutions. That may be gun control but its also common sense.

I would love it, but the Messiah is coming back to town and visiting two great bastions of welfare dependence-Camden and Newark. No doubt he will bring plenty of that democratic fairy dust known as “walking around money” to be spread over those towns and other similar perpetual poverty fiefdoms of the democratic party on election day.

Christie’s scheduled to be in our smallish south Jersey town for a couple of hours this Thursday evening - can’t decide if that’s a good (consolidating the base down here rather than staying up north where he could be reaching a lot more people) or bad (desperate to consolidate his base in the south and scrape up as many votes as he can) sign - he’s run a terrible campaign, letting Corzine get away with painting him as an insurance company front and someone who wants to deny women mammograms - but Corzone still has poll numbers in the low 40’s, very bad for an incumbent - I think if enough people decide the third candidate Daggett is a losing vote and stay with Christie, he could still pull it out.....

I am not an expert but usually runoffs don’t occur in general elections for Congressmen and women or for Senators.
The top vote getter wins even if it is 1/3 +1 of the vote.

Hard to predict as the big welfare cities cited always swing the elections in NJ. It will take many many suburbanites to get out and vote Rep. to offset this. Sheer people power at the pols and no waffling Indpendents could be the factor too. It will be interesting!

"I am not an expert but usually runoffs don’t occur in general elections for Congressmen and women or for Senators."

It varies from state to state. As an example, last year there was a well publicized runoff involving Saxby Chambliss in GA - in fact, Palin campaigned for him in the runoff election. In GA, the candidate must get 50%+1. I believe that there was a runoff for congress in LA last year as well, or perhaps it was 2006.

The problem being is that too many suburbanites in places like Middlesex, Burlington, Camden, Mercer, (southern) Bergen Counties, etc. vote Dem out of family tradition, or the fact that too much of the “middle class” in New Jersey is comprised of government employees (cops, teachers, bureaucrats, etc.). Voter fraud in the cities is a problem, however.

Hard to predict as the big welfare cities cited always swing the elections in NJ...not one of the biggest certainly, but the Atlantic City Press endorsed Christie this weekend, calling him "the Best for New Jersey", the Best for Atlantic City" - surprising since the south has been trending 'rat for the last few elections - we shall see......

Well, I'm "correct" insomuch that there are runoffs in varying states, but I still can't figure out if New York is one of those states. Hopefully, someone from NY will read this and comment.

If there are runoffs, I think that this would play favorably for Hoffman.

My problem with Morris isn’t so much that he is often wrong, but that he sells his stuff as if it were bulletproof.

He’s one of the worst prognosticators and he should show a little humility in making his selections.

That being said, I hope that he gets this one right.

Anyway, if I were Christie I would run ads on nothing but how bad the economy and the likes of Corzine that are responsible for it.

Chris Christie deserves to LOOSE this November.

For the following reasons:

1) He is on record as stating illegal aliens are not committing a crime

2) He has advocated addressing pension and benefit reform for government employees in New Jersey while exempting the BIGGEST hogs at the public trough - the law enforcement unions

3) Just last night on the Sean Hannity show, he stated that he supported Jon Corzine (the current governor's) position on gun control which is nearly as draconian as Washington D.C.’s policies

4) He has his campaign run by an operative of Tom Kean's and Tom Kean is actively campaigning for him.

Some of this may appear to be a little arcane for those who are unfamiliar with New Jersey's Byzantine Politics, but I would be glad to elucidate.

I love Sarah Palin and hope she runs for President. But in this case, she is wrong. Neither Chris Christie, nor his puppeteer, Tom Kean Senior, approves of her or anything she represents. They would make Lindsey Graham look like a far right wing extremist.
