Does a hooker need a qualude and some booze to “comply”?
Felon’s guilt? “Don’t judge!”
As Imus used to say of other washed up celebrities, time to give him and box of Depends and leave him out at the dog track.
I guess some people don’t consider hookers to be human beings.
Amazing that his father was stumping Amelia Earhart!
I flush better things that Gore Vidal down the toilet every morning. If only Bill Buckley had beaten the shit out of him when he had the chance.
That tells you all you need to know about Gore Vidal. It really does.
13 year olds could NOT give consent, legally, in that state at that time. They lack “capacity.”
A 13 year old could therefore be a whore, and it was illegal to have relations.
The adult is expected to do the right and legal thing.
That would be the law, folks.
Gore’s lies get believed because of his incredible Insider* pedigree. He is among the bluest of blue-bloods, as much a part of the Eastern Establishment as is the Bush Network, which he hates. Gore Vidal is related by birth or marriage to most of the powerful people in Washington and New York (and is said to be both Jimmy Carter’s and Al Gore’s cousin, but I’ve never seen any evidence to support the claim); he’s also a bestselling novelist, essayist, Broadway author, and actor. Is it any wonder every word that comes out of his mouth — true or not — gets printed?
* To borrow a term from the Birchers.
She is nolt a public figure, as in politician, TV star, etc., so she has the legal rights of a private citizen.
Which means that she can sue the socks off him for libel or slander, according to what he actually said or wrote.
He is a jerk and I hope she hangs one on him.
In other words, he’s our social better. Who are we to question him? Or Roman Polanski? They’re FAMOUS, for cripes’ sake!
I think you are correct here. Also, didn't both Bill Buckley and Norman Mailer threaten to punch this guys lights out?
I don't recall about Norman Mailer but I know Bill Buckley did---and on national television, yet, during their infamous exchanges as a pair of kind of colour commentators for the 1968 conventions. Buckley wrote a bristling recap of the events in an essay republished in The Governor Listeth.
On the other hand, a few years later, Buckley and Mailer were chatting on a New York street corner when a car went past as, I think it was Buckley, turned away from traffic. The window dropped and Daniel Patrick Moynihan poked his head out (he was friendly with both men), needling, "Damn! I could have gotten you both in one shot!"
Gore Vidal is the epitome almost a caricature of the America-loathing elite lib. Gore had writing talent at one point in his life, but seems to be determined to die as a decrepit almost grotesque whining old queen. Like a lot of libs, Gore mistook talent in the arts for wisdom in the real world. When in fact he has no wisdom and totally misunderstands America.
