Public School's Version of a "Call To Freedom"
albie

I was just reading one of my daughters "history" books called, "Call to Freedom". (credit is given to "CNNfyi.com" so I knew this was going to spell trouble.) In a chapter called "The Great Society", the book brags about LBJ's accomplishments in poverty. Here's a quote..."Partly because of Johnson's Great Society, poverty in the US decreased. Overall unemployment levels stayed low and the percentage of Americans living below the poverty level dropped to about 12% by 1969. Americans' income levels rose more during the 1960's than they had during the prosperous years of the 1950's".

There are chapters devoted to Malcolm X and the "Nation of Islam" in a positive note! It shines a negative light on Reagan by saying "Reagan's Economic Recovery Tax Act offered the richest Americans the greatest tax cut. At the same time, Congress cut $35.2 billion from social programs, such as school lunches and unemployment payments".

I may have some deprogramming to do. Not sure where to start. I've taught my kids about "supply and demand", the farce behind "Obamacare" and "Cap and Trade", "supply-side economics" etc. I'm hopeful that this kind of brain washing and one sided approach to history won't leave a mark!! I'll have to highlight the worst lies in the book and chat with them about it. It's my fault for sending them to Public "Screwels" in the 1st place. A regretful decision.

> I may have some deprogramming to do.

If they were home-schooled, you wouldn’t need to deprogram them.

And good luck with that, since they see probably spend way more time with their teachers and brain-washed friends than they do with you.

It is inconsistent to submit your children to an authority with which you disagree. It is not good to display inconsistency to your children. They will not trust you.

Take them OUT of the government indoctrination centers euphemistically called “public schools”.

The “school district” is better understood as the “school collective”, since the current implementation is more along the lines of what Karl Marx proposed.

And the “public school” is better understood as the bus ministry of the state church of humanism, and all that entails: earth-worship, global warmist alarmism, radical environmentalism, portrayal of communisma and islam as forces for good, etc.

The problem is not just with the textbook, friend. The teacher probably believes these lies and is teaching them as facts. You are not just going to have to counter the text, but the ‘authority’ of the teacher - probably someone your child trusts.

The younger your child is, the worse it is to have them see the person in authority over them as a liar. Older high school children can start to see it for what it is, but younger ones can get very confused. When do they believe the teacher and when do they not? It is a difficult situation to be in.

My suggestion is to start with the teacher and tell him/her that you find this textbook expresses a progressive view of history that you will be countering at home. Ask that your child be allowed to express that viewpoint in class with no recrimination as long as they can back up what they believe. If the two of you can come to an agreement, it will really help.

Going to the principal and even the school board are an option, but it takes time and your child will still be in this class with this teacher and textbook, so work with the teacher first.

Good luck to you.

Nothing – NOTHING – we do to reverse America’s slide into state socialist tyranny will matter UNLESS AND UNTIL we abolish the federal Department of Education and clean up the leftist rot in the government schools. They are producing hundreds of thousands of new believers in the wonders of government each and every year and are engaged in historical revisionism. They are now encouraging cult worship of our “dear leaders” via techniques such as those described in the video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7u0GJSZttZE&feature=channel_page)

If this doesn’t remind you of Germany in the ‘30s, you don’t understand the history of that disastrous period.

“When an opponent declares, ‘I will not come over to your side,’ I calmly say, ‘Your child belongs to us already... What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.’”- Adolph Hitler

We cannot allow it to happen here.

“Give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day...”

Problem is, this is all they do. They never teach anyone to fish... never give them any reason to want to learn how to fish. The people grow up looking to others for meals and the concept of “earn a living” is foreign.

They had a group of people considered poor.; they gave them money. Viola! Not poor anymore.

When you send them out of the home to be educated, their authority becomes the school, not you. That’s the #1 reason I homeschooled, to pass on OUR values, NOT the corrupt government school’s values.

the book brags about LBJ's accomplishments in poverty

How many trillions of dollars have been spent and how many people are still in poverty today?

The Nation of Islam is a cult that establishes Elijah Mohammed and Louis Farhekhan as messianic figures.

How the HELL can this cultist propaganda be permitted in school texts? I know that the ACLU is the AntiChristian League but there IS still a seperation of religious indoctrination and state.
