FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)
Let’s hear “various” proposals from both the oil men. Something magic in the number 5??
The poll is crap.
Is anyone even advocating drilling within 5 miles of the FL coast?
.... besides Cuba and China I should say.
Cuba and China will be 12.1 miles off the coast
Of course, it improves the fishing.

Imho, 5 miles is a little close. 30 miles would be better. I don’t think oil rigs should be within site of shore.
Yes 76%

Update on the debate at FSU.
Why?
Done.
I can see 12-16 miles. This isn’t considering the view from a condominium. I don’t have a problem with the drilling. Its just not necesary to be an eye sore.
It also isn't considering the context of seeing things that are far away.
An oil rig that's a few miles away would be a very small item on the horizon, one of those things you see out there that you wonder 'what the heck is that' but then after a while it's so small that you just give up. But something that could easily be completely hidden by using some sort of visual aide such as paint that's similar in color to the sky and/or water due to the large distance away that it exists. Eyes aren't hard to trick even at close distances much less miles.
Hardly the eyesore that so many liberal media outlets (like the one at the original posting) wish to make you think that you're gonna see this big industrial complex right there next to the beach 100 feet away.

I agree. But I'm surely not gonna take some journalist with an agenda's view on it. They'd convince you that 2000 miles out would be an eyesore if they could.
Yep. They do.

========VENICE, La. - With its vast network of offshore oil rigs, extreme depths and a nutrient driven Mississippi River, Venice, Louisiana has been called one the most prolific fisheries in the world. At the southern most extreme point of the lower Mississippi River Delta, it is often compared to some of the world’s most famous fishing charter destinations such as Hawaii, the Bahamas, and Costa Rica.============
Heh heh heh that’s the very first paragraph on the page.

Drill Now, Fish More!
OUTSTANDING SLOGAN!!!
Thanks, worthy of a bumper sticker?
I'm going to propose it to my senator, Mike Haridopolos as a slogan/bumper sticker for his pitch to the Florida Senate.
MOST EXCELLENT!
