I love baseball but I turned on the game and was totally turned off by the pre game rapper show that was on. I guess NY’ers like that crap. I will watch the game—not the pre game rappers.

I didn’t see that. Knew it was on, but saw no reason to lose my minutes from my life.

Apparently there are some singers out there that appreciate performers like Nat, Johnny, Vic and others.

I don’t know, but is it just me? Shouldn’t baseball be over some time in September? Am I alone? I’ve lost total interest.

Yes. They need to bring back Sunday double-headers, other wise Santa will be showing up at the World Series. Either that or cut down the number of games again. This is ridiculous. There will be a “snow-out” before this is done.

If the Yankees get swept, which they might, I hope Don Mattingly becomes the next yankee manager.

The WS was an early October event at one time. Besides the no scheduled double headers, mandatory off days and the stupidity of the scheduling of the first two playoff rounds, this year the World Baseball Classic in the Spring delayed things a bit more.

Gotta tell ya, I know about the “Donny Baseball” trope, but Mattingly wasn’t even the best First Baseman in the game. What makes you think he would be a good manager?

He was the best first baseman in baseball from 84-89. Best drug free player in the American league period. He did a wonder as a hitting coach with the yankees especially resurrecting giambi. And if Joe Torre thinks Mattingly will be a good manager, that’s good enough for me.

But as far as mattingly goes from 84-89 he was the best hitter in the American league and only hernadez was a better fielding first baseman

Keith Hernandez was the best first baseman ever to play the game. I don't know how old you are, maybe you saw Gehrig, but Hernandez redefined the position. Before him, it was welfare for over-the-hill outfielders. He actually fielded the position.

If Hernandez hadn't gone to the Indians at the end of his career, he'd have hit over 300 and would be in the HOF today.

Donny took off with Torre. He is upset with the Yankees. I don’t think he would come back. Yanks won’t lose this series.

He was a great fielder but mattiingly was too. Not at his standards, but this is a guy as a lefty who played third base for a game or two.

Well, AJ had better step up and get the job done. same with A-Rod and Texiera. They’d better win this one or its over. And since A-Rods going no-where it will be time to change managers. T

Mattingly was good, but Hernandez had much more range. Hell Hernandez hit .344 in ‘79 with STL.

With 11 homers and like 105 ribs. Mattingly hit .343, .324., 352, .327, during his prime with 23, 35,30,31 homers. I know he had henderson in front of him but his rbi totals over that span were far superior to what hernadez put up. And I like Hernadez, he was a great player. But Mattingly was far superior in his prime. He was just stuck on yankee teams that had lousy choke artists like A-Rod and company r today.

No argument about that. Different league though. Still can’t see him as management material. On the other hand, and I take you’re not a Mets fan, if you listen to Keith as an announcer, he knows baseball. Never heard Mattingly speak about the ins and outs of the game.

I’d take Hernandez as a manager. If they get swept I think there will be changes. If they lose in 6 maybe not. But I don’t like the guy they’ve got now.

Mattingly was on the short list but they choose someone with managerial experience. Maybe we’ll Mattingly as the Mets manager next year, wouldn’t that be a riot.

Actually, as a kid I was Yankee fan. When the Mets started I watched their first game, and all the other losses! But I remember Yogi when he was the Mets manager in '73. I like former cathers as managers (Mike Sciosa, Joe Torre). They are involved in the whole game. They know it better than any other player.

Girardi will be OK as long as they keep winning. If not...

The Dodgers are grooming him I believe to replace Torre. Mattingly talked with Cleveland about the job, but obviously didn't get it. He;ll be a good manager. Those championship teams of the 1990’s played like he did, with his professionalism. It was around 2001 when they started spending like morons on free agents with big egos and steroid problems that things fell apart for them.

I still thought that it was ridiculous that he was voted manager of the year with the Marlins finishing under .500.

I am also getting sick of Yankees fans whining about poor little (!) Don Zimmer getting knocked to the ground by 'dro back in 2003.

I gotta tell ya, I think most of the people who haven't hired him don't think he has the, uhhhhhhhhhhhhh, brain matter for the job.

Ever hear him in an interview? Being a manager today is 40% PR. Not sure he could do it.

When I lived in Miami, I just remember most of the games I got tickets to at Pro Robbie were usually rained out. What a crappy stadium.
