Our 7-month-old kitten was hit by a car today behind our house. She was killed instantly. She was my 12-year-old son's precious baby. He is inconsolable. We are so utterly sad tonight.
I thought I would share photos of this most beautiful, intelligent, adorable little one whom we shall miss so much every single day.
Prayers sent
I have three. Prayers sent for your son.
Oh No, I’m soooooo sorry, Prayers for your healing......
She’s playing at the feet of Jesus tonight...
So sorry for your loss. Much prayers to you. :-(((
#1 is a great photo (#2 isn’t too bad, either). I’m sorry for your loss . . . you have some captured memories . . . be thankful for those in this hour.
Sad kitty ping.
The kitty is with God, on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, waiting for her boy. But I will pray for your son to be consoled. Poor thing. Boys can be so very tender-hearted and loving.
I’m sorry to hear that. I had too many of mine killed by cars and dogs. :-(
Prayers....
But that is one of the MANy reasons housecats shouldn’t be outside cats, too...
We do not let any of our 6 cats outside. They are strictly indoor cats. Too many dangers outside.
BTW, was your cat deaf? Most white cats with blue eyes are. I had one growing up named Pup.
So very sorry that your son had to go through such a terrible thing. I pray that your family will get over this unfortunate accident.
We all have had this type of accident occur with one of our pets through the year’s and it is so hard.
The solution here is to get another cat. My wife's Navy kitten was killed accidentally and she was unhappy until she met me ~ I was already owned by two cats.
Try an off-sable colored Burmese ~ very nice behavior ~ smart for a cat. A good cat for a boy to romp around with too.
I am so very sorry for you and your son's loss.
I lost my most precious cat to a car seven years ago and have since adopted two new babies (furry ones :-), but I certainly was myself inconsolable for years and I understand how much pain is happening right now and that will continue for sometime.
I will say many prayers for your son and for this precious little creature who is in God's arms this very minute. Who could resist such a wonderful kitty :-). Many blessing as the family goes forward. I too feel great sadness for this kitty and for you all who have lost her.
I’m very sorry for your loss.
Prayers coming from our house for your son. It sounds as if you are raising a wonderful loving young man.
Cats are magnificent creatures. After the sad days pass, have your boy get another one, and give that one a good life.
And so, in Lewis vision of heaven, the pets I had as a child - and indeed those I have now or may come to have later - may well be caught up in my experience of the heavenly realm when I die. The best expression of this idea is found in Lewis theological fantasy, The Great Divorce. Here he describes a woman in heaven surrounded by a train of young children, angels, and - significantly - birds and beasts. The following dialogue makes explanation:
What are all these animals? A cat - two cats - dozens of cats. And all those dogs ... why, I cant count them. And the birds. And the horses.
They are her beasts.
Did she keep a sort of zoo? I mean, this is a bit too much.
Every beast and bird that came near her had its place in her love. In her they became themselves. And now the abundance of life she has in Christ from the Father flows over into them.
A beautiful cat. I’m so sorry. It’s never easy to lose a pet when you consider them a member of the family.
Sorry for you loss.
oh my dear, I am SO very sorry.. I know your terrible pain & anger and emptiness.
I cannot say much to console I KNOW .. but just want to let you know I understand(been there) and do CARE..
So sad for you guys. You and your family must be heartsick. That was such a cute kitten. I’d imagine that’s the next worst thing to losing a relative, especially for your boy, which must doubly sad for you. Losing the kitten, and seeing your son heartbroken has to be a double shot of grief.
Our family has pets too. We’ve had our cat for almost 10 years. It has been around for as long as all of our kids can remember. I’d hate to think what it would be like if anything happened to it. Makes me sad just to think about such a scenario.
So sorry for your kitty. I have five and one of them — her name is Cutie — looks just like your kitty.
My heart goes out to you and your son. When the pain lessens, take him to the animal shelter and save another kitty’s life. There are so many of these precious souls that desperately need a home.
Prayers.
So so sorry for you. I can’t imagine. I love my babies and it would be so hard to lose them in such a way. Prayers for your family and especially your son.
Im very sorry for your loss.
I’m so sorry, Yaelle. Prayers up for you & your son tonight.
I am so sorry. We recently lost one of our kitties. It hurts so much, especially when one of our children has to suffer through the loss. Prayers up for you.
We have been working through our grief by volunteering to foster kittens for a local cat rescue organization. It truly has helped us heal.
Blessings to your family.
I’m so sorry, Yaelle. Thank you for sharing the pictures of your bright-eyed, beautiful little kitty. In kitty heaven, I hope she meets up with our 7 mo. old love, Topsin. I know the pain. A special hug and prayer for your son. A new kitty won’t bring her back, but would start healing the heart a bit.
I’m so very sorry. Prayers for your little boy, his precious little pet and the entire family.
She was so beautiful.
My prayers are with you and your son. She was a stunningly beautiful cat. I too have a long hair white kitty but her eyes are golden.
I just lost my 8 year old cat 3 weeks ago. She was the ugliest cat I have ever seen but was also the most loving cat I’ve ever had. Three dogs got her. Have never seen the dogs before and I hope they don’t show up again.
Sorry for the loss of such a beautiful animal. My kids have lost cats over their lifetimes, but we still end up getting more at some point. They still have fond memories of the cats we used to have, bring them up in conversation, but they don’t dwell on their loss too long. If you do decide to obtain another kitten at some point...don’t get just one, get 2 from the same litter and watch them grow up together. The interactions between sibling kittens/cats provide more entertainment than you can possibly imagine. They also keep each other entertained when your son is in school or asleep. They will each have different personalities, but that’s all part of the joy of having two. Believe me, 2 cats is the way to go.
Prayers up. Hope another sweet kitten wanders into your lives to help your son and give it a loving home.
Couldn't agree more...every time we lose a kitty; we wind up with two more. My last two were brothers that I rescued from the 'green mile' at a shelter, and they are quite the pair. (All of ours are indoor kitties.) Please consider saving a kitty or two from certain death at your local 'shelter'.
The only thing that ever gets me past the “I’m done with pets because I can’t stand this pain” thing is to go out and get another pet.
Sincere condolences.
The best way to mend that boy’s heart is get him another kitty. It was that way for me when I had to put my 8 year old brittany down.
Yaelle, I’m so sorry about your little kitty. That is terrible, and I do know how awful your son feels tonight because when I was young, we also had outside cats and lost more than one of them to the hazards of the road. It was always awful. That’s why all our cats now are indoor-only; I just couldn’t take it anymore. I hope you will consider keeping your next kitty as an indoor-only kitty. Statistically, they live three times as long as indoor-outdoor cats.
Again, I am just so sorry. I know how the furry ones creep into your heart and set up housekeeping there. :(
Thank you all so much. All of these (and so many more) photos were taken by my son, her owner. Thanks to each of you.
We would like to find SOME way of keeping any new kitten we get INSIDE while our Old Biddy girl cats can still go outside, because they would HATE to be trapped inside at this point. That was our problem. She wanted to keep up with the big cats. :(
Thanks. She was a Turkish Angora, and the white blue-eyed ones can be deaf. We made sure to get one with hearing. She could hear.
I will show him the Burmese when he is ready, thanks.
You are so sweet.
Thank you for your prayers. Nothing breaks a mother’s heart more than her child’s broken heart.
My son lost his cat on Monday. He got her when he was 5, he will be 23 next month. Callico was a long time member of our family. We share your pain and that of your son. Even at 22 our son is just heartbroken, he can’t remember a time when he didn’t have his cat. Prayers for you, your son, and that beautiful little cat.
God Bless.
What a beatiful cat. Sorry for your loss of this precious kitten at such an early age.
There is a book I would recomend reading to your child in times like this, called; COLD NOSES AT TEH PEARLY GATES, by Gary Kurz.
From the Author:
There are no words that can fill the emptiness we feel with the loss of a precious companion pet. Their unconditional love and devotion are missed as much as their splendid and unique personality. But we can replace the grief with joyful anticipation and hope, if we understand that there is a plan for them. The words of this book are offered to guide you to that place. You may begin reading as a skeptic, but you will end with a newfound hope and a lot of important things to think about.
