Good morning!
Time Change Weekend: Remember...an extra hour of sleep!
The administration is touting its new, improved jobs created/jobs saved stat among growing doubts about an economic recovery as the Dow tumbled yesterday after a weak consumer spending report.
And folks, please, please continue those calls to Congress. Health care "reform" MUST be stopped...It's particularly useful to call those wobbly Dems like Landrieu, Lincoln, Bayh, Nelson.

It's the weekend! YEAH!

Good Morning!
We had our yard looking great until yesterday. The 40 mph winds sent leaves everywhere. Now all of us have some more raking to do.
Oh well... I'll take the leaves over snow anyday.
We're set for Trick or treaters.

Hope everyone has a safe, enjoyable weekend.
Wondering if Detroit survived last night...reports of expected fires in abandoned homes was pretty depressing

This is an unusual lighthouse at Crown Point, N.Y.

A windmill was the first structure built at the site around 1737 by the French, as part of Fort St. Frederic, but it was blown up in 1759, when the French relinquished the fort to the British. Using the French fort as a foundation, the British built their strongest defense on Lake Champlain, Fort Crown Point. Remains of part of the outer fort, The Grenadier Redoubt, can be seen today, just south of the lighthouse.
More information here.

Morning Molly....Got a link to the Detroit action? Have family not far from there....
Planted about twenty different lilies yesterday AM on the pond bank and got the bad news that the electric circuit box must be redone before the new heater and water heater can be install....Looks like the house is going to be a mess until at least Tuesday....Oh well just proves “Cleanliness may be next to Godliness, but around here it’s next to impossible.”

November 4th is Lady Laura (Bush)’s birthday. Do you know if she has contact information where we can send her Birthday greeting?....(She and I will be 63 on that day. She’s much better preserved than I am.)

Thank you, Molly, for getting us off to a good start today. Let me correct something in the day’s plans which I confided to 2/3rds. I said I will be listening to Auburn’s game today. Scratch that. Morpheus and I have a rendevous and especially the way we’re playing I will not miss my tryst. Toby, you’re just gonna have to wait to rag on me until I get up.

Good Morning!
I love reading about the history of Lake Champlain, and of the Great Lakes. Fascinating struggle for the Lakes with the native tribes, French, English and Americans.

My granddaughter goes to a Lutheran school (Missouri synod, Jemian)...
..and it's a lovely place.
They told the kids to 'dress up' but nothing scary.
So Jellybean decided to be a .....potato?????--(this is her own individual sense of humor!)
Why, I don't know....but her parents dutifully made her a potato costume...repleat with 'eyes' ...and she wore her big yellow clunky Mickey Mouse shoes with it....really cute!
They got to parade around the school......

THIS is what I need to get my day started, will bug SIL to fix some this morning.
Raining here, light rain but man, er kind lady, did it rain last night, buckets full, one of these nights with the rain falling on the roof puts you into a deep sleep.
BamBam going to view the falling troops coming off the plane made me sick, how dare he to do this, the known radical turncoat, not good at all but, how could he miss a photo shoot.
Let us ALL pray for our nation, we need it badly.

That is so cute. I used to make my kids costumes. I made a really cool Robin Hood outfit for LionsDaughter but I think the best costume I ever made was a Superman costume for JT. He really loved it (he was about 4 at the time). He would wear that costume every chance he got after Halloween. I had dyed a long-handled undershirt the light blue and had done a shield out of appliqued felt. The cape didn’t last longer than the winter but, gosh, that shirt stretched and he wore it for another 2 years, I think.
Then, we learned about the origins of Halloween and we stopped participating in it. We found other times to dress up in costumes though.

Morning all!
Good to be back in the land of the living. That’s post-work ;)
I look like heck this morning - cried myself to sleep last night, and my face is puffy. Never read a sad dog book in bed. Dogs always die in the end.
But I cherish the book - it was the best - Merle’s Door.
Chiming in on Halloween/costumes, I made my son a “court jester costume once. SO VERY CUTE! But my kids only passed out candy and/or attended the harvest parties at church.
I celebrated Halloween as a child, and don’t think it hurt me at all. Then, the “razor blades in candy” thing popped up. Oh boy.... This year it’s “catch the flu on candy wrappers” scare.

I just signed the petition over on the American Thinker. It’s asking congress to keep their hands off our Health care. Also saw Stosel is going to hold a townhall in Arkansas on 29 Oct. Didn’t sign on, so don’t know the city he’ll be appearing in.

I know of a great costume for Halloween, easy to make. Wear a pink jogging type suit or all pink top and bottom, pink shoes, cut a piece of cardboard like a cloud shaped and paint or cover it in pink fabric, then glue a shoe to the top, and you have.......... gum stuck to the bottom of a shoe. Cute, huh?
