A bank robber put the cat amongst the prison yard pigeons by demanding visitation rights for a pet moggie - who he claimed was the reincarnation of his dead mother!
With her green eyes and soft fur, Gisela the cat is much more than a pet to jailbird Peter K. - and she has caused a prison farce in Werl, Germany.
The 46-year-old bank robber was sentenced to five years imprisonment in 2007. Behind bars, it's his cat Gisela that the devout Buddhist misses most.
And the reason is that he believes the feline is the reincarnation of his dead mother!
When he first met the stray, he said she looked at him just as softly as his mother Gisela had always done.
Once he became an inmate he filed for the cat to permission to see him.
But the local court declined the request for visitation rights for his mother in the form of a pet cat, because the prisoner has provided no evidence to prove the reincarnation.

Silly... but if they are serious about rehabilitation, they should let him visit his cat.
I don’t think any of mine are ancestors, but they are definitely my relatives.

A Bollywood knockoff?
Snides aside, a sad story and to be put in the "we think we have problems" category.

Well, if I'm reincarnated as a cat...

Nah, I'll probably end up as some Buddhists mother.

“devout Buddhist” bank robber? is bank robbery ok in buddhism?
I’m not surprised really. Eastern religions are evil at the core. Like hinduism will allow people to starve to death “or else they’ll just have to come back & do it again”. It’s totally satanic.
It’s a cute pussy & all, but 5 years for bank robbery?? “devout buddhist”??

Also I think that’s a mini keffiyah on the cat? It’s the garment that answers the question “are you with us or with the terrorists”.

Uh...iirc that’s Swampsniper’s kitty. The resemblance to the first pic is coloration only. Care to rethink that?

Perfectly reasonable, cats do things like that all the time. Our late tomcat, for instance, was the reincarnation of Grover Cleveland.

Well, cats do tend to tell you what you to do and act as if they are better then you.
Who am I to say? Maybe it is his mom, erh, Mother.

If she’d raised him better she wouldn’t need visitation privileges. Or flea dips.

Did he ever acknowledge his love-kitten? I'm sure that if he'd deigned to run, all the bastards would have voted for him.
