Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Whitney Isleib has inadvertently stepped into a Halloween controversy by reportedly dressing up as soon-to-be incarcerated rapper Lil' Wayne in black-face.
Photos of the blonde-haired cheerleader turned hip-hop impresario were posted to Facebook and eventually made their way to sports blog Deadspin.com.
Offensive or just plain fun? Dallas fans are split.

"If she wasn't a Dallas cheerleader would it really matter? It's Halloween, you know. You get to go how you want to go" Cowboys fan Laura Pyhrr told CBS 11 Dallas at Sunday's game.
Another fan was less sure.
"I'm assuming you would hold yourself up to a higher standard - especially if you're playing for the Cowboys. But wow, not much I can say about that - it speaks for itself" said fan Richard Vasquez.

I don’t get it. Is Lil’ Wayne black or not? If you want to dress up as a black entertainer (like President Obama!) you would paint your face black. What is the big frickin’ deal? Or are we not supposed to dress up as a person of another skin color?
Isleib was a member of the Blinn College Dance Team 2006-8 and served as captain this past year. She is the fourth former Blinn dancer or cheerleader to become a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
What if a black cheerleader had dressed up as a white person?
Oh, and she’s automatically not-guilty. As a matter of fact, she is exempt from an prosecution of any crime whatsoever. Hottness Immunity.

Seriously, the whole point of a halloween costume is to look like someone else.
Anyway, this isn’t “blackface”. Blackface is a specific makeup style that includes white paste to accentuate the lips, and make a person look a little clownish.
Are blacks are now going to say that simply being black is offensive?
On Halloween a little black kid came to my door wearing a green “Hulk” costume. I counseled him on impersonating green people and informed him of how insensitive it was.

Reading about this I can’t help but be reminded of all of the bad behavior and poor judgment exercised by NFL players over the years...ya know, DUI manslaughter, domestic assault, nightclub shoot-em-ups, dog fighting, etc.
This story about a cheerleader with what looks like a really good tan rises to the level of a non-story. That the media has nothing better to do than report it says a lot about the media.
