If Scuzzie won she would have switched parties before she was sworn in. Nothing lost.

What is "alot"?

That isn't a real word.

Did you think it was?

Of course - semi-conservatives especially those on TV are more than happy to grant RINOs continued access to their shows - do they do the same for “right-wingers” - NOPE!

Duh what if we dont want Boehner as speaker. He is horrible. In case you forgot he endorsed the liberal in NY 23 , sent her money and ran ads against the conservative. He needs to be on the “remove fro power” list.

I’ll echo Lincoln:

But if this country cannot be saved without giving up the principles of the Declaration of Independence, I was about to say I would rather be assassinated on this spot than surrender it.

Pledge your lives, fortunes, and Sacred honor or leave my Republican Party. Surrender? I’d rather be assassinated.

Life - an inalienable right.

alot

It has to be the most misspelled word ever used.

Perhaps but using "your" instead of "you're" for "you are" has to be the most irritating!! I see it so often that I have to believe it will become common usage soon.

Well, I listened to Newt's 'contrite' explanation. I was stuck by a couple of things: 1) He clearly tried to blame the Scuzzy endorsement as a failure of improper vetting and selection procedures for the NY 23 committee and then added several reminders about Reagan's endorsement of questionable candidates and the need to keep a 'small number of people in this country (FR?)' from deciding 'who gets the boot and who doesn't, and 2) the odd (twice said) remark that 'future candidates' will have to pass a basic smell test that will ensure that both traditional Republicans AND Conservatives (even mentioned 'the party') agree on who's running on a Republican Tickect.

He's still an unprincipled opportunist, regardless of his brilliance in forming an alliance that 'could' have done lasting good work. What struck me most is his drive to still remain relevant. In my book, he still became irrelevant when he and his current 'squeeze' were fooling around while he was still married and all the while he was in an important position to bring an immoral President to task for his moral failings. GOODBYE NEWT, YOU'RE FINISHED.

That statement of “having a small number of people select” is exactly what happened NY23.

The GOP leadership was the small group doing the selecting.

There is nothing wrong with a small group selecting the candidate as long as it is the establishment GOP and not conservatives.

I guess you and I wouldn't ever be friends then. Even when I was cheering his political ascendancy, I couldn't stand the porky, self-absorbed jerk. I'd consider having a beer with him, but I'm sure he'd order foofoo drink, and bore me with some stupid futuristic "idea" had.

Would YOU tell your wife who is in the hospital undergoing cancer treatment that YOU were leaving her?

I DISLIKE Newt as a person.

His politics have cost him dearly (INTR). If only he had MEANT WHAT HE WROTE in the Contract with America things would be different for him, but he is an opportunist.

Shame on him.

I was infuriated when listening to Newt’s interview on Hannity this afternoon. I turned Hannity off! I refuse to watch him tonight because of it. Hannity better watch his “P’s-n- Q’s” or the association with Newt’s RINO activities will hurt HIM!

Newt flaked out, pure and simple! If he had of said “ I was wrong”....I’d of thought much more of him. I have no use for NEWT now... nada!

That idiotic "word" is one of my pet peeves. I'll even stop reading someone's post if they don't know to separate those words properly.

I don't normally point it out to people (like you just did), but I cringe, just the same, every time I see it.

I’ve been wondering how long it would take Hannity to get Newt on his show to explain himself. And, that’s exactly what today’s appearance was all about.

Hannity mentioned that he’d gotten tons of email from people asking him why “his buddy Newt” endorsed the stealth leftist.

Predictably, Newt came on and very calmly rationalized everything.

Sean tried his best to theorize that Newt and other Republicans had been blindsided, and didn’t know that Scuzzy was so...scuzzy. I think that was weak on his part. He’s still trying to save Newt. Bad move, in my opinion.

But it gets really irritating after awhile, considering that most who post here are otherwise educated people. I'm willing to forgive misspellings of more uncommon English words, but something like "a lot" is just plain elementary.

Of course Sean endorsed Arnold as opposed to Tom McClintock!

I see that I'm not alone after all.

Another one that truly irritates me, is the mis-usage of apostrophes in words that are simply plural, not possessive, or contractions. That one's epidemic.

Hmm.... I hadn't recalled that. I probably was angry with Sean over that at the time, but it's receded into the forgotten mists of time for me.

Now, I'm pissed at him all over again!

Full disclosure: I was also persuaded to vote for Arnold, when I really wanted McClintock. I repented, and only voted for McNuts so that I could vote for Sarah.

Now, why on earth would I do that? To read up on how butchered the English language has become, and why "it's really ok"?

Sorry for the angst, but slippage in our people's basic language skills is just one more attribute of the leftist destruction of our country, in my view.

Lots of alternate spellings and funny contractions have made their way into the popular vernacular, but have remained only semi-legitimate. Ain't is such a word. So are gimme, gotcha, gotta, ya (you), lemme, etc.

The fact that they're recognized, and in normal usage hasn't elevated them to the status of proper words.
