Dear Congressman Schiff:
Elizabeth Vuna in your Pasadena office assured me that a list of nine healthcare questions I submitted by fax would be answered. I have just received a letter from you designated as a reply. It was not a reply to my questions. Perhaps it was a reply to questions you thought I should have asked. You, Congressman Schiff, have neither the intelligence nor the perception to decide what I really mean when I ask you for answers. You work for me, and you will answer the questions I want answered. Nine short questions written in easy-to-understand English requiring only yes or no answers, and you couldnt manage it. Obviously, your Stanford and Harvard degrees were not accompanied by an education. I am sorry that you took the course of action that you did, but you were only responding in a way that you are capable of responding. I should not have expected more.
I am left with no choice, therefore, but to answer the nine questions for you. I will send you a copy of your answers shortly. I will then publish them. Just as you presumed the meanings of my questions, I will now presume the meanings of your answers.
Sincerely, Basil Hoffman
Dear Congressman Schiff:
Please answer the following health care questions. Thank you.
1. Does the government require you to buy health insurance? If not, why not?
A.S. No. I am perfectly capable of making decisions for my family.
2. Will you sign a pledge to discard your own Congressional health care plan and sign on to whatever plan you vote to give us? If not, why not?
A.S. Of course not. As a Congressman, I cant be expected to accept what Ive decided is right for your family.
3. Will you vote no on any health care plan that doesnt guarantee every American lifetime access to available medical procedures and medications? If not, why not?
A.S. No, because, as people get older, it wont be cost-effective to provide expensive and scarce procedures to the detriment of younger people. That is why Im in favor of immediate cuts to Medicare.
4. Will you vote no on any health care plan that forces American citizens to buy health insurance whether they want it or not? If not, why not?
A.S. No. If Americans are allowed to make decisions for themselves, how can the government control them. Besides, the fines for non-compliance will help to lower the federal deficit. Then we can spend that borrowed money elsewhere.
5. Will you vote no on any health care plan that forces American taxpayers to pay health insurance premiums for people in this country illegally? If not, why not?
A.S. No, because the Democrats need the votes of illegal aliens. As you know, proof of citizenship is not a requirement to vote.
6. Will you vote no on any health care plan that doesnt force the government option to make a profit in every year in which it competes with private insurance companies? If not, why not?
A.S. No. If the government option had to make a profit, it couldnt successfully compete with private insurers, and those companies would remain in business.
7. Will you vote no on any health care plan that denies Americans the right to choose any doctor they want and to pay that doctor in any manner agreed to by the doctor, without penalty to the patient or the doctor? If not, why not?
A.S. No, because government should have the power to make medical choices.
8. Will you vote no on any health care plan that forces Americans to buy health insurance that doesnt cover the health care providers they choose, such as Christian Science Practitioners? If not, why not?
A.S. No, because there arent enough voters in those categories to make much of a difference in elections.
9. Will you vote no on any health care plan that prevents insurance companies from competing across state lines and prevents Americans from buying health insurancein any state in which it is offered? If not, why not?
A.S. Definitely not. If insurance companies could compete across state lines, then consumers would have a real choice and competition would drive insurance prices down. Government needs to control that market. Only government really knows what is best for American families.
Congressman Schiff, I am grateful that you have allowed me to provide your truthful responses to my questions.
Sincerely, Basil Hoffman
I count 18 questions, Basil...
Excellent questions, and excellent interpretations of your congressman’s answers. I have no doubt that you’re correct.
I think this thread is *that* good, your mileage may vary.
Apologies to all the Freepers I *didn't* ping.
There is a FReeper whose name is like 'muiyawah' which I tried several times to type the name for, and couldn't get to work. Would someone ping them, for me, please?
Cheers!
ping to you for this thread.
Who is Basil Hoffman? Was he on the Love Boat as Rico, the sidekick to the bartender?
Thanks for the ping!
wasn't Adam Schiff the District Attorney on Law and Order?
Looked him up on imdb. He was born in 1938, has been in 106 tv shows and movies starting with 'The Defenders', his wife of 38 years died 3 years ago. Looks nerdy, strictly a character actor. Teaches acting, worked with leading directors (before this letter).
Yes, but he is also a left wing California congressmen.
“A.S. No, because the Democrats need the votes of illegal aliens. As you know, proof of citizenship is not a requirement to vote. “

Insomnia drugs are for people who can't handle Free Republic.
A certain large, American religious group is famous for this tactic.
