Hulu: Adv of S. Holmes series
Posted on 11/04/2009 11:49:08 PM PST by DGHoodini
Huilu has added the 1940's(?) Brit 'Sherlock Holmes' TV series to their line up, with episodes 1 to 39.
Back when I only had terrestrial TV, I used to enjoy watching the nightly episode aired on my local PBS channel before going to sleep.

These 39 episodes ran in 1954-1955. Starring Ronald Howard, son of the more famous Leslie Howard.

Ah, yes, this version is from 1954/55. Sherlock Holmes is played by Ronald Howard, son of the great Leslie Howard (From Gone With the Wind, his plane was shot down by the Nazis; He was a spy for the British)
At first I didn't think much of this version, but it grew on me.
If you have a Netflix account, the Jeremy Brett Holmes series are available for streaming. Add a box to hook up to your TV (Noku, XBox, maybe Wii in the future), and it works pretty well.

I must say I really dont recall the series (and I am a Brit)

That's why. It was produced in Paris, with a British cast, but it was made for U.S. audiences. My understanding is that it was not shown in Britain until 2006.
