The four passengers in the jeep must feel a whisker away from death as a lion jumps up on to their bonnet for lunch.
But that's all part of the attraction. The jeep is a new zoo exhibit which allows visitors to get incredibly close to the lions.
The back part of the vehicle, up to where the windscreen should be, is actually on the outside of the reinforced glass cage. The bonnet is on the inside, and covered with meat to entice the big cats closer.
It makes for an exhilarating experience, according to Robyn and Davin Price, both 34, who visited the Werribee Open Range Zoo, in Melbourne, Australia, with their children Ariel, five, Eden, three, and baby Evie.
Mrs Price said: 'It was absolutely amazing. You can't even see the glass is there.' Her husband added: 'I'm sure the lions thought our children were their dessert!'
This incredible Lions on the Edge exhibit, which puts you just inches from a lions jaws, is one of the biggest attractions at the zoo.

the perps from the San Francisco zoo taunting have a new zoo they need to visit
Does it stop the smell too?
I just watched “Ghostbusters” and all I can think of when I see these pictures is the part where Rick Moranis is attacked by the demon dog and all he can manage is “Nice doggie! Maybe I got a milkbone...”
Mimes have been using those things for years!

I understand that they use something similar for Michael Moore viewings...

Wow! That’s fantastic.
Yikes! I would hate to be a zoo worker dealing with the lions after they had been taunted all day with thoughts of tasty, tasty tourists...
My son when he was two tottled over to the glass in front of the gorilla exhibit. This huge silverback strode over, bent down, and got eyeball-to-eyeball to my son about a foot away (of course, with the protective glass in between). They stared at each other for a few seconds and then the gorilla just wandered away, apparently his curiosity satisfied. Unfortunately, my wife who had gone on ahead had the camera.
OMG !! ...that is one big cat.
More better, now I get it.
Mr. Peel used to look after 26 lions. He saw these pictures and laughed saying: “mine used to do that, but I didn’t have a glass window between us.” He frequently tells the story of Frankie, a 150 lb lion cub that was so taken with Mr. Peel, he used to jump in the jeep and ride with him. Poor Mr. Peel was beside himself when this happened, as the last thing he wanted was to give off the impression to tourists that these beautiful animals were sweet tame cute things. Ha!
Jurrasic park waiting to happen.
