Despite spending millions, Snyder, Redskins have little to show for it
ESPN ^ | November 6,2009 | S.L. Price

It's all about him now. Whether Dan Snyder secretly wanted this when he bought the Washington Redskins a decade ago is less intriguing a question than why it took so long to become clear, but then, there were so many distractions along the way. There was so much free-agent cash thrown about, year after year, and the rise and fall of Steve Spurrier, and the return of Joe Gibbs, and the slew of forgettable quarterbacks, and the strange hiring of Jim Zorn -- so many high-drama ideas gone wrong -- that it was hard to cut through and see that maybe this was the real plan all along.

It should be interesting to see what 'Skins fans come up with for their protest on Nov. 15. Some rumours I have heard was intentionally showing up late. Although knowing Snyder he might lock the gates at kickoff to spite them. I give 'Skins fans credit for not putting up with this. I lived out in Nor Cal for awhile and Raider fans still drinking the Al Davis Kool Aid.

As long as it's the Redskins, it's okay with me.

Washington had just become a black hole for sports. Gibbs couldn’t turn things around, heck Micheal friggin Jordon couldn’t help that city! MJ! Sigh... Skins fan in Texas is a very depressing life.

I guess he didn’t want to spend a billion like the Yankees did to buy as championship.

I think he’s spent a lot on free agents, hasn’t he? I thought part of his problem is that he interferes too much. He doesn’t let his football people do their jobs, from what I heard. There’s lots of issues with team chemistry, building the best team you can within the salary cap, etc. which are technical, and for which he doesn’t understand the technicalities involved.

Snyder's quasi-general manager Vinny Cerrato is a yes man and the laughingstock of the NFL.

At least you got the Expos.

Seriously though, your hockey team is pretty good. Division contenders for sure.

Last of the 60 minute men

Chuck also knocked Hornung out of the 60 Championship game in the first quarter

Concrete Charlie played all 60 minutes of that game

Snyder suffers from the same problem that Al Davis has: too much meddling on team operations with too many “yes men” below him. He should look at the success of the Steelers, Giants and Patriots, teams where the general manager and coaching staff operate without owner interference—with the result that the team plays very successfully on the field, which means more fans attending the games.

Still don't like him. I can still see him wiping Gifford out.

Part of the game and Gifford never complained

In fact when the Gifford marriage scandal came out there was a dinner he was at and nobody would sit with him

Chuck thought it was an outrage and went over and sat with him

Sounds like a Branca - Thomson thing.

And I don't think it's part of the game BTW, or at least it shouldn't be. Maiming an opponent so he drops a pass shouldn't be allowed. Before the guy catches the ball, I think the only thing you should be allowed to do is knock the ball down. After he catches it, if he does, you're supposed to wrap him up and tackle him.
