Paterson: NY State Will Be Broke Before Christmas
wcbstv.com ^ | 11-9-09 | Marcia Kramer

Posted on 11/09/2009 5:42:56 PM PST by Justaham

Governor David Paterson called an unusual joint session of the Legislature Monday to implore recalcitrant lawmakers to close the state's huge budget gap before New York runs out of money.

To some lawmakers it's nothing more than a photo op to help Paterson get re-elected. But the governor is dead serious. He said if the Legislature doesn't cut the budget now the state could run out of money by next month

I know he’s a lib dem but, I feel sorry for him. I kinda like him, at least he is willing to do something to cut spending. Too bad he’s surrounded by total idiot’s in Albany. I hope they’re all voted out, soon.

Are you serious. This clown raised dozens of taxes including crap like taxing music downloads and snacks. He told Rush to not let the door hit him when he left doing business in NY. Just recently he remarked that all of the increases were having no effect.

I have zero sympathy for him and for the state of NY.

Heck, NYers can’t get rid of tax cheat Rangel, vote DEM and have a base that exists on handouts big time—Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn etc. Let them go under.

.

California:

1 - Giving IOU`s (good luck!)
2 - Deducting 10% from paychecks as a surcharge/tax the state will pay back later (good luck!)

And all these democrat busted big states will still be subject to Fed mandates under Obamacare!

I am having terrible slowness here tonight, are you?

I’ve read the rich are leaving the state in droves, but that may be exaggerated. They are already so highly taxed!

Obama said the Senate Health Bill better not undo the Medicare cuts or he will not sign it. Everything getting cut and taxes going up.

Soon all shall be ‘equal’ or equally poor.

I think the New York government has wrung its last tax dollar out of the New York sheep, so what does it intend to do about this situation? It can cut spending or go broke. And I refuse to help bail out New York State. Let them handle their mess themselves.

I’ve got a solution for ya Dave: raise taxes.

You were happy when Rush Limbaugh left your high tax haven...see how much you can tax the rest of the folks who for some reason CHOOSE to stay there.

That’ll work.

Just recently he remarked that all of the increases were having no effect.

You wouldn't happen to have a source for that would you? I live in NYC and would love to pass it along to my "raising taxes is the answer to every problem" liberal friend who moved here from the South Carolina.

I was born in NY and have lots of family, friends and coworkers also from NYC or Long Island that all want taxes reduced and vote Republican. All the liberals I encounter in NYC are people that moved here from other states. They vote Dem. I'm sick of this crap. (Sorry for the rant.)

They say 1500 a day leaving NY & NJ

Obama`s 500 billion cut to Medicare to fund Obamacare also kills the Medicare Advantage that 10% of Medicare Seniors have and need

Where will they go?

AARP has a more expensive Medicare Plus insurance with less benefits

AARP sold out to Obama - they get huge fees from United, Aetna, Hartford for heath. life, vehicle insurance

Actually we’re a wide spot in the road on Hwy101 on the Olympic Peninsula here in Washington ... there isn’t a traffic light from Shelton (45 miles to the south) and Pt. Townsend 45 miles to the north ... just a 40mph sign ..... we do have a street where the PO is - called Brinnon Road. We do have an Easy street - it’s where the liquor store is.

The idiot libs are killing their own idiot lib voting base

Unions and Fed employees will be exempt and steal from taxpayers under Obamacare

I predict many will seek and find methods the Kennedys, Kerrys, Pelosi, Feinstein, Rockeller, etc have used to avoid reporting taxable income

And underground economies will “neccessarily skyrocket” too

If it is good enough for Geithner and Rangel.......

Those people probably have had money in Swiss accounts, the Bahamas, etc.

Everything else is made into a charity or corporation that somehow helps them avoid taxes.

The rich know how to do it and get away with it. We pay our taxes and suffer.

They legally set up gizmo tax-exempt foundations - which can launder bucks through other foundations - and cannot be required to disclose to who - from who - how much

Foundation officer perks and freevies and vehicles and residences, condos, etc

They pay very little income tax

The Kerrys pay under 15%

The Peons pay multiples of that

Congress writes and passes the tax laws

-

I heard that Obama is attempting to get (fron Congress) the lifetime Secret Service protection that ended after Clinton

He is a “special case” - AA-SS ?

Right, I wrote corporations when I meant foundations. I know they pay little in tax, it’s been published before.

That’s what I tried to get across in my post.

I hadn’t heard about Obama and the lifetime SS stuff. It would then go into effect for dubya too.

What happens when the state goes broke?

Well, nothing happens to union contracts or fixed benefit pensions. Or special compensation to legislators for their "extra" duties.

Localities stuck with education costs normally funded by state. Possible drastic mid-school year layoffs.

Big spike in property taxes and school taxes for districts who want to try to preserve programs.

Closed parks--doesn't matter so much in the winter.

I don't know, worse service at the DMV?

More taxes, less revenue, as the people who can, leave. Time-honored formula. Even Paterson sees it, but ignores it.

I have zero sympathy for him and for the state of NY.

Nor I.

What was really hilarious was last month he complained that Zero's pay czar was costing the state over a billion in lost tax revenue.

Time to watch Escape from New York again.
