Tacitus was a Senator in Ancient Rome writing about events that transpired before his time, but from secret documents that only few (such as himself) had access to. The parallels to modern society are stunning. Tacitus has an incredible gift of understanding human nature, then summarizing it in catch phrases such as: "suited for office if only he had not had to hold it".
