They're not a member of any conference and youll never be able to follow their standout players to the NFL. Nothing about the Navy football team screams pay attention to me.

Guys giving their all with little hope of professional football contracts; many will soon be facing our nation's enemies. God bless all our Armed Forces.

‘64 Cotton Bowl was a long time ago - a lot of people remember him from his pro days, though...

Navy won at Notre Dame. I’d think that alone would make a LOT of people very appreciative. If not for their inexplicable loss to Temple ( a team which lost to Villanova), they would be a top-25 team. (They get a lot of votes for the top 25 in the coaches’ poll.) Their other losses are Ohio St and Pitt. I hope they get a good bowl game, but being a Big East fan, I know how likely that is.

Other than being a good safety school for the Merchant Marine Academy, there is not much to commend to the Annapolis Boat People.

Not quite never. Navy had a heckuva quarterback one time named Roger Staubach. Wonder whatever happened to him?

The day Navy gets the recognition it deserves is the day the BCS picks Boise State to play for the National Championship.

My dear, it makes perfect sense to anyone who understands the proven hierarchy of the nation's service academies.

Oh wise one, please enlighten us. I used to know someone who attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Both it and the U.S. Naval Academy may be properly classified as undergraduate institutions. So it's not as though someone attends the U.S. Naval Academy only to later enroll in the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
First, what sort of "safety" is meant? I assume it is not a football safety. I know of no instance where a football player of the U.S. Naval Academy transferred to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Moreover, such a move would be a step down. The U.S. Naval Academy is Division I-A (Football Bowl Subdivision), while the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy is Division III, as I recall.
So perhaps "boating safety" is meant. I was unaware that the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy has a much higher safety record than the U.S. Naval Academy. The Exxon Valdez comes to mind which was Merchant Marine.
Finally, you might want to study Latin grammar some more. The proper form of a Latin word depends on its grammatical function. The only thing like it in English is the way English handles its pronouns: he/him/his/his; she/her/her/hers; we/us/our/ours, etc.
So, "I love the taste of chicken" would be Amo saporem pulli. (1st person indicative singular verb followed by accusative singular noun followed by genitive singular noun.
