COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a severely overweight South Carolina man stayed in his recliner without moving for eight months until shortly before his death.
Firefighters had to cut Tillmon Webb from the chair after his mother called paramedics because he was in pain. Greenwood County deputies say the 33-year-old weighed about 800 pounds when he died Wednesday at a hospital....

He should have been on The Biggest Loser.
She waited 8 months until he was in pain? I hurt after 30 minutes.
Okay, can you imagine how much poop or pee could have gathered over eight months under the bottom of a man who maintained 800 pounds of weight?
I have my doubts about this story. He had to eat and drink over those eight months.
How did he eat if he couldn’t get up?
Or was he 1, 100 pounds back then....
Deputies say Webb had sores on his body and a “very bad odor.”
Why? Did his wife suggest he take out the trash?
Not much detail. It is not clear if he lived with his mother or wife or both. This is simply gross neglect by a family member(s).
It is time for PSA announcements to be aware that malignantly obese children and adults are at risk for death. It’s almost like ignoring mentally ill relatives who are a danger to themselves and others.
Deputies say Webb had sores on his body and a “very bad odor.”.....
Someone else can have this call.....
There are other hygiene and bodily functions that come to mind as well.
The mind reels and the stomach turns with the possibilities.
My dumb webtv wont go to the rest of the story so I could not read more.
I call BS. How did he go potty?
Among other things.
Was he of sound mind or health (other than the obvious) to make medical care decisions?
Really the only question is; who does mom sue?
It certainly can’t be the fat-man’s own fault, so someone has got to get sued.
Whoa! I don’t think I’ve ever seen MM’s legs. I’m pretty sure I don’t need to see them and hope I never see them again. Dude - Weight Watchers. Really.
Odor can be bad from bacteria growing in all the folds. Putrid.
Sounds like a very severe case of self neglect.
Poor soul.
Oh Come On! Cant you see the man drinks water not sugery drinks...cant you see the iced water sitting in front of him?
/sarc

Summer of Tillman.
***Was he of sound mind or health (other than the obvious) to make medical care decisions?***
That is such a great question. If he was unconscious, or acting strange for 8 months, you know someone would have called for help. But, just because he kept eating and urinating and defacating - he was considered normal. Plus, if he had a 300 pound tumor growing on just the one leg - he would have seen a doctor.
MALIGNANT OBESITY - KILLS!!!!!! Stop feeding the tumor - get it to a hospital!!!!!!
“This is simply gross neglect by a family member(s).”
***
No, it’s his own gross neglect of himself.
Take it from me, a fat person. You can nag or plead withn oan bese person. But that person has to make his/her owndecisiion to lose weight.
google search for several sentences of above news story
You'll note that the first few results are different websites which are carrying the story, but none are yet cached away. There should be a cache version within a few days, maybe even tommorrow.
Lazy-Boy of course,no pun intended.
How long before someone says the fat-man stuck in the chair would have lived if he’d had government healthcare?
What the... How? Why?
When they get fat enough they can’t leave the chair it becomes gross neglect by the family. Maybe begging and pleading won’t help, but you don’t have to bring them food or clean up after them either, and if they can’t feed themselves that’s a diet.
More disturbing than that picture is why you have that picture.
We gotta find out the namebrand of that recliner. It held an 800 lb. man for eight months in a row????
And we gotta give the mother some credit for being a loving mother. I’m not kidding on this one. She accepted her son even though he was 33 and never moved off a recliner. I often tell my 17 year old son that I would still accept him and love him no matter what. This woman proved that love!
I’ll bet the mother even served him dinner on a tray in front of the TV. That’s love, people!
I don’t even know where to begin with that picture. Its best I keep my comments to myself in this instance.
I’m not directing this specifically to you, Joe Pro Bono, but to all those who jump on this with wise cracks. Mental illness at this level is not funny.
Thanks.
He probably urinated into a container . As for defecation...I recall reading about a morbidly obese man-this particular one was bedridden, and had a sister who brought him food 2-3 times daily. This sister was a nurse BTW, and she still brought him food even when he was so fat he could no longer move-a HCP, and she did nothing apparently before he got to that state. Anyhow, he claimed to have a BM only once every 3 or 4 months. Yes-MONTHS. Not days or weeks-MONTHS. I know, I find it hard to believe, someone taking a dump only 3 or 4 time s a year, but that’s what he claimed. Can’t recall if this man is one that died or one that got help in time. There are so many stories now about the super morbidly obese that they are becoming hard to keep straight.
Is that the Mayo jar parked in the drink holder or her sunscreen?
What happens when some people when they are very obese and finally get the energy/will/medical help to lose the wieght is some fatty pockets never melt without extreme surgical intervention.
The lose wieght ads never show truly before and after pics.
Not on this forum unless in sarcasm I would guess.
She’s only having one sandwich at least and her hair looks nice.....
It IS photoshopped, right?
PLEASE tell me it's photoshopped, and no one really gets into a state/shape like that. Please???!!!
Wide ride does not describe it......
It’s possible but hard to tell.....
Not having a thyroid gland I will reserve any judgement of an internet pic.
Maybe he was French.
(What if I grow to my freeping chair?)
Mac from Cleveland,
He ate the same way I eat when I get home from work I plump down in a recliner and my wife brings me my dinner on a tray. A 10-pc bucket of orinal flavor KFC and six (6) cans of coca cola. At the end of the evening when it’s time to go to bed she helps me get up.
The next day I do all over again.
No ride.
If only the government had mandated that all that delivery pizza and fast food he ate had the calories clearly written on it, this poor victim would have lived...
***These kinds of stories show up rather frequently. The overweight person has to be aided and abetted by one or more people who feed them, etc. If they didn’t have a feeder, their weight would decline.***
Exactly!
We surely have all noticed that many of our fellow humans are ENORMOUS. If those same people were self destructing, bycutting themselves, or taking drugs, or semi-conscious in public places they would be taken for medical care - NOT GIVEN KNIVES, DRUGS OR LEFT TO THEIR OWN DEVICES.
If the food police can force food manufacturers to label their products, surely the Surgeon General can compel by public service announcements that family members of malignantly obese people get medical help IMMEDIATELY!!!
Pressure sores (bed sores in the hospital) turn to gangrene and the smell is worse than feces...Its just rotting flesh on a living person...
He should have gone to a Nursing Home and got care and a diet a long time ago. If he had no insurance and probably no money he probably could get medicaid. He could have got help and he could have helped himself IF he had wanted to.
