Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee tells Newsmax that some of his fellow Republicans are calling him a RINO for defending President Barack Obama against personal criticism.
So be it. It is total hypocrisy for us [Republicans] to rail at the way Bush was treated, and then do the exact same thing. It's disgusting, Huckabee said of those who have labeled him as Republican in Name Only. I care about issues and will fight on those, but just because someone doesn't think like me doesn't mean that he or she hates America.
Speaking at a meeting of the Hudson Union Society to discuss his forthcoming book, "A Simple Christmas," Huckabee railed at those who had derided the presidents stopover at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware in October as just a cheap photo op."
No, I think it was the commander in chief of our military paying respect to a dead soldier, Huckabee said. I'm grateful that he did that, and I was proud of him for doing that. And I think we all as Americans should give him credit for that." Huckabee, the top contender for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012, described the treatment Obama gets from Republicans as shameful. He castigated fellow Republicans who want to find everything wrong and nothing right about the man as a man."
"If you want to say [Obamas] healthcare policy is going to be terrible for the country, great, Ill be right with you," he said. "On cap-and-trade, Im there with you. The lack of fulfilled promises which I can list a host of absolutely! [Obama] is vulnerable there, and we ought to challenge him on every bit of that."

NO I am not out to diss Huckabee, but I am just wondering where his concern is when Conservatives are attacked on a daily basis. Im not seeing him come out and defending them, but he will come out and defend Obama
whats shameful is you attacking fellow republicans. You can be graceful and compliment obama for visiting soldiers family, but do you need to pile onto obama’s critics
I agree Sarah. Both sides are wrong when they attack the president, whether it is Obama or Bush, with vitriolic partisan rhetoric. I wish Huckabee had protested when W was treated with so much disrespect also.
Where’s his outrage over how Sarah is being treated? Obama has been given the kid glove treatment, even though he is a cretin.
It was 0bama who said the soldiers made a “great photo op.”
I do not see Sarah’s comments as attacking Republicans. Her point was valid I thought.
I would NEVER vote for this shuck and jive preacher.
Payback’s a b*tch isn’t it?
One of the reasons Republicans lose is that they play by the Dems rules.
....merely the Huckster positioning himself. One thing a politician can’t do...stay out of the mix, always, always,...throw your two pieces of silver in, no matter which way your throwing
Well suit yourself, I piss on him!
As for you being a RINO, I dunno about that. But brother you sure do seem to be talking and walking like a McCaino. McCaino’s make wonderful losers and we just don't have much room for them anymore. So Huckster, run along and be the darling of the MSM for coming to Mr. Obama’s aid now that he is dipping in the polls (this is the useful idiot part) but do not lecture us on civility on the eve of the Government taking over health care and raising taxes through the roof.
RINO is as RINO does.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Yeah right....along with Mitt the used car salesman. I wouldn't vote for either of those POS if my life depended on it.
Screw you Mike and come to think of it I don't remember seeing either you or Obama at the induction center.
Mike Huckabee, a RINO providing cover for Obama. Keep moving those deck chairs Mikey.
Mike Huckabee is a statist in preacher’s clothing.
Go away.
Satire! LOL! You almost got me!
Hey Mike, NEWSFLASH... Bush was busy protecting America from her enemies and the Liberals were attacking him for purely political purposes.
Obamao on the other hand is intentionally, destroying the very fabric of democracy and freedom in this country with his massive marxist socialist government power grab.
Big Difference don’t you think?
obama loathes the military and my country.
He wants to pass Draconian laws that will enslave my future generations.
obama gets no respect from me.
obama gets no benefit of the doubt from me.
buck ofama and those who defend him....
Ya dumb hill billy huckabee.
Ya think they treat this marxist magic negro poorly.
Some miracle occur and they elect your hillbilly ass and you’ll see poor treatment.
Ubama is a sick p.o.s. who hates America and the capitalist system that made it great, hates whitey, hates the military, and hates the traditional American family structure. If Huckabee wants to defend him, he can go right ahead. Huckabee is dead to me.
Obama and the rest of his Communist band of maniacs NEED to be attacked for what they are. What does the Huck think this is? A game. These people are playing for keeps. NO THANKS HUCK! If I go down it will be fighting not collaborating.
While visiting the Army base in South Korea, Obama said of the troops “You make a good photo op”
This statement shortly after his vist to Dover AFB where he was the first President ever photographed witnessing the returning remains of out bravest.
Troop Photo-op to Obama while they are living he does it to appease critics on the right. When they are dead he does it to appease critics on the Left.. How perverse is that.
Can someone please post the picture of the balloon Huckabees in their test pattern sweaters. It’s a classic.
Does Huckabee really believe that it is the way Obama looks that is repulsive to us? He is playing the race card just like the democrats!
“It is total hypocrisy for us [Republicans] to rail at the way Bush was treated, and then do the exact same thing. It’s disgusting, Huckabee said”
not really. It’d be hypocrisy if we started the attacks and then railed against them. I hate to have to contradict a true master of hypocrisy, but there you are.
I really don’t understand that about Huckabee. Obama is hell bent on taking this country on the path of socialism yet he refuses to take him on and call him out. I just don’t get it, yet this is the guy the Republican party wants as their nominee. He reminds me of another John McCain, McCain was scared to call out Obama too and look what happened
“Huckabee, the ((((top)))) contender for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012...”
YOU LIE......
Does his book, “A Simple Christmas”, contain a photo of his magic bookshelves?
The very shelves that were in his campaign Christmas commercial, that HE LIED about when he was asked about the Cross.’’ The Cross was fine... the lie was unforgivable.
This disgusting little two faced mouse will never be the President.
I’ll bet he would make a great cook though. Perhaps he should move to China and start up a family restaurant serving the popular delicacy, dog. He has at least one son that likely excels at skinning the main course.
He could call his restaurant, “Huckabee’s Hounds” with a business slogan, “We serve your best friend”.
I agree with you there.
Huckster blows it again.
Well, Mr. Huckabee, I have no desire to ever vote for you. You clearly don’t have the wisdom to see and understand evil in other people. We don’t need that kind of naivete in the oval office.
There is no way I will support Huckabee for President.
So be it. It is total hypocrisy for us [Republicans] to rail at the way Bush was treated, and then do the exact same thing. It’s disgusting, Huckabee said of those who have labeled him as Republican in Name Only. I care about issues and will fight on those, but just because someone doesn’t think like me doesn’t mean that he or she hates America.
Huck that’s what’s wrong with you.
You just don’t get.
Huck, sometimes the NAMES FIT the person. It’s really tough to show your DISGUST and HORROR at someone without some kind of label that may hurt your widdle feelings.
Huck, YOU are the one that is disgusting.
I suppose when people ridicule Satan, that would offend you too. Well, Obama is a diligent minion of Satan, so be offended at that too!
Huck is an idiot!
For a second I thought he might defend Sarah Palin, but wait, his “compassionate conservatism” seems to only extend towards Obama.
Yeah, I dont want this to turn into a Sarah Palin Vs Mike Huckabee thing, that is not why I posted this. I just wanted to try to understand why this guy continues to praise Obama while he is sending us all on such a destructive path. He reminds me of McCain, full of fear, “Oh Obama is gonna make a great President, no need to worry” I see this repeating all over again
I wasn’t talking about sarah the poster, i was referring to huckabee
Huck wants to make another Presidential run. He is trying to position himself as the head and ahoulders above the rest type. He really doesn’t get it. Huck was SILENT when Palin and other conservatives are routinely attacked. Huck is DISGUSTING.
Yep. McLame, Huck and the used car salesman who shall not be named...combined...dont have the support Sarah has (and they know it...AND it drives them CRAZY.
Make them grovel and demean themselves before you Sarah! lmao.
Huckabee railed at those who had derided the presidents stopover at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware in October as just a cheap photo op.”
No, I think it was the commander in chief of our military paying respect to a dead soldier,
No way would I vote for “McCain redux”. No way.
Obama is evil. Obama is a terrible president. The next (R) candidate had damn well better say this with conviction, and want to WIN, if he or she expects MY vote.
One small difference, Huck. Bush didn't try to destroy our country & way of life.
You boob.
Mike is just wrong in this assessment, imo.
I don't think the criticism of Obama is "the exact same thing" as the criticism of GWB.
It isn't a matter of Obama and most of his administration, and most of the Democrat leadership, not "thinking like me". The point of the matter is WHAT they think that isn't like me.
If there is indication that both parties desire the outcome of what is beneficial for the country according to the framework bequeathed by our founders and framers, but they have differing ideas about how to achieve it, that is one thing. But, when every indication, and evidence, is that someone desires to take the country in a different direction and change it into something other than the nation of laws and freedom that we have known, we're talking a whole 'nuther ballgame, and criticism is more than warranted.
If destroying what we have and replacing it with something other than the freedoms that define us isn't evidence of hatred for America as we know it, I don't know what is.
BINGO!
So be it. It is total hypocrisy for us [Republicans] to rail at the way Bush was treated, and then do the exact same thing. It’s disgusting
So his position is what? People shouldn’t badmouth the president? Well, if it’s a decorum thing, I suppose. Depends on the forum, of course. If it’s a straight story on the network news or in a major daily paper, hold your tongue. If it’s on a editorial program or in your own backyard, have at it.
We do waste an awful lot of time with personality politics. As radical as Obama is, he is a politician, and most of the time he’ll limit himself (KSM’s trial being the exception that proves the rule). The movement is more to be feared. Oftentimes, the movement can be hurt by a personality, as we were with Bush. But said personality will eventually be gone, and presumably won’t destroy the country in the meantime (or, if the country does go under, it will be at least as much to do with generations of bad mistakes as with whoever happens to be in charge at the time, given our inherent strength).
Take healthcare, for instance. Is it perhaps going to pass (perhaps not) because Obama is personally pushing for it, damn the polls! Or is it not more the case that Democrats, and particularly radical Democrats, are willing to risk passing it now because they’ve failed before and don’t want to waste another majority? Plus, once it’s there, as we all know, it’ll never leave. And even if it costs Democrats the next election, it’ll buy them, they hope, a million elections in the future?
As far as standing up for Bush, I, for one, only defended him when the criticism was out of line. Which was often the case, but not always. I’m less inclined to defend, so yeah, it is hypocritical. But so what? That’s partisanship.
