PHOENIX A 2-year-old boy dragged a 1-year-old Arizona girl Friday from a house fire that killed her mother and injured two other adults, authorities said.
Fire crews responding to the fire in the Pinal County community of Maricopa south of Phoenix found the girl's mother, 22-year-old Michelle Mariano, lying near a doorway of the mobile home, Maricopa Fire Department spokesman Brad Pitassi said. She was identified by Sheriff's spokeswoman Lt. Tamatha Villar.
Villar said officials believe the boy is the girl's brother but haven't confirmed that.
Michelle Mariano's 28-year-old sister, Marion Mariano, was also severely burned, authorities said, and she and the little girl were airlifted to Maricopa Medical Center's burn unit in Phoenix.
The little girl had facial and torso burns covering nearly 40 percent of her body and Marion Mariano had burns over 70 percent of her body and was in extremely critical condition, Villar said.

Wow. Prayers for all involved. I hope the remaining burn victims live and are all right.
so sad... my niece lives in Maricopa County. Prayers for the family.
Wow... and only 2yo.
One little angel helping another one...God bless the family.
Prayers for all.
Proof heros are born that way. Prayers up for this family.
Maybe. But the reality is, a lot has to do with training, teaching, love and example from an early age. By the time a child reaches the age of two, a surprising amount of the foundation for that child's entire life has already been put in place.
Wow is right! How many two-year-olds would have the presence of mind to do that? A guardian angel must’ve nudged him. May our Heavenly Father bless the survivors with healing and comfort.
That’s true, his family had obviously taught him by example what he should do; a lot happens even at the pre-verbal stage.
Prayers for these kids and their family.
Wow and Wow. If that brave little trooper doesn’t grow up to be a fireman, he’ll miss out on his true instinctive career.
That young, a child will not be able to reason out something so complex. Most 2 and 3 year olds would stand and cry. They would not be able to locate a sibling in a smoke filled and oxygen deprived enviroment, much less take her and find a way out.
While I agree that 2 year olds can learn and be taught, it would take an inordinate amount of faith in that training to kick in when needed, much less a parents ability to teach something like that. Fireman often freak out during training in these circumstances their first try, after training for it and being mentally prepared for all the difficulties. It is a bit of a stretch for me to think a 2 yo could be prepared for any such circumstance, regardless of love, training, teaching and example......
¿Quien es mas macho?
Wow! That’s a miracle!
Sad to hear about their mother.
Very true. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if we later find out he was really four years old, rather than two. Still, even if he were four years old, that's still dammed miraculous!

I am sceptical, as well.
Sadly, I think the most likely explanation for this tot’s precocious behavior is that he’s left to fend for himself a lot of the time. It’s common for neglected children to take on adult roles towards younger siblings when the parents are failing to do this. I’ve read about cases where starving kids were removed from a home with meth-addicted parents who rarely bothered to feed them, and a half-starved 4 or 5 year old is handed a sandwich and immediately starts tearing it in half to give half to a younger sibling, assuming that there won’t be another one coming for the sibling.
well I did...bet this mother talked a lot about "big brother" being nice to his little sister, giving her her bottle, or a toy, etc....
The most sensible explanation. There was definitely at least one angel involved.
when my adopted sister was two, her mother abandoned her and her 3 month old baby brother in an old abandoned chicken coop for days and days. She kept herself and the baby alive by scavenging for food and force feeding the baby.
2 year olds are MUCH smarter than we give them credit for.
Something is stuck in my eye.
