New evidence for early life on Mars: NASA
CBC News ^ | 11/30/09

A new NASA study of a Martian meteorite that made headlines 13 years ago strengthens the original claim that the rock contains evidence of life on ancient Mars.

Researchers at the Johnson Space Center used advanced electron microscopes that weren't available in 1996 to re-examine the magnetite crystals on the meteorite.

The meteorite, called ALH84001, was blasted from the surface of Mars 16 million years ago, scientists say, and is thought to have landed on Earth 13,000 years ago. An American scientist found it in Antarctica in 1984.

Yeah, next thing you know they’ll be outsourcing jobs to Mars.

I recall them doing a cross-section of the supposed ancient microbe to see if they could find a cell wall. I don’t think they found one.

“Democrats propose tax on Martians to help pay for healthcare”.

That's "universal" healthcare for you! Obamacare will cover ALL inhabitants of the universe AND any parallel universes that may exist.

Actually I see this as science being done the way it should be. There’s no consensus and the jury is going to remain out on this for a while.

Personally I’d like it to be evidence but there just isn’t any way to know for sure.

It might, possibly, could, suggested, consistent with, similar to, on the one hand.............

Debunk, revive, Debunk, now the Martians are in the revive cycle, until the debunk cycle returns.

Was there a tag on it that said made on Mars?

Its petrology and minerology was consistent with Martian samples studied with all the landers we've put up there over the years. It's not asteroidal and definitely not terrestrial, thus the inference. Yet we can't really be sure until we get geologists hammering around out there.

Which means placing geologists on Mars is a better way to spend money than 75% of the other ways we pour money down our current rat holes and it would actually SAVE and CREATE more jobs that the same amount of money spend for the “stimulus”...

Plus you employ a couple of geologists.
