Vt newspaper names homo advocate Vermonter of the Year

The Green Mountain Daily is reporting that Vermont's largest daily (one which we can't quote on FR) has named as Vermonter of the Year a lawyer who has been active for several years in promoting homosexual marriage.

According to Family Research Council (FRC.ORG) VT has an estimated 8000 homosexuals out of 600,000 residents.

Meanwhile another 300 or so Vt Army Guardsmen and women are training for a tour starting this month in Afghanistan. They are just one group of soldiers and airmen who have done tours in Iraq and Afghanistan but they were not thought highly enough to get the award.

Boy...it makes one wish for the good old days when sex was for the bedroom and not the front page!

Just a light diversion for New Years' night. Newspapers are pits of leftist propaganda and here is a bit of evidence. I think it's funny that Vermont which one would think has more homosexuals than some other states, has (if my math is right) one homosexual for every 75 normal Vermonters? Isn't that 1.5%? Not exactly "one in ten"? Even that seems awfully high.

Yeah, that figure seems a bit low— from what I’ve read, even Christian experts on the topic estimate 2-3% overall.

Actually the Guttmacher institute has done sevearl studies - they are connected with Planned Parenthood and are not conservative - and their figures are between 1.5 to 2%, IIRC.

And such figures are fluid, since there are many former homosexuals.

I am sure that when the culture does not promote homosexuality, the figures are likely lower. Now kids experiment and think it’s fine to be “gay” and are indoctrinated in school and by the media.

Thanks for the info. You’re right that cultural promotion plays a big role, though I also wonder if part of the problem is in definition. There is likely a gap, for instance, between active homosexuals and those who report x number of instances of same-sex attraction, but either group could be claimed as being “gay” for demographic purposes.

Absolutely. The “gay” promoters tell kids in GLSEN meetings and so on that if they’ve ever had a “gay” thought, desire or experience, they are now “gay” for life.

You’re right that cultural promotion plays a big role

Recently a survey was published drawing on systematic US public surveys since 1988, of the percentage of people having same-sex partners in the preceeding year. These have significantly increased for both men and women. However the number of exclusively homosexual men and women did not change significantly. The author attributed changes to homosexual experimentation by those previously exclusively heterosexual, in the more accepting social climate today. Other surveys in the United Kingdom gave conflicting results, but suggested an increase from about 1% to 2.8% (in the last five years) from 1990 to 2000. There is no doubt a permissive society encourages greater experimentation. But this merely emphasizes it is happening not because our genes force us into it, but because of the social climate.
