POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - A South Florida child abuse prevention group wants the NFL to reconsider booking The Who for the Super Bowl halftime show.
Child AbuseWatch.net objects to Pete Townshend performing because of his 2003 arrest by British police on suspicion of possessing child pornography. He was eventually cleared but placed on a sex offenders registry for five years as part of a formal police caution for accessing a Web site containing images of child abuse.
The Pompano Beach group's founder and CEO Evin Daly told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that their concerns are focused on Townshend.

I’m not watching unless they book Pat Boone.

To the Hussein Administration this is "just another kind of love" so Townsend will be allowed in.And yet a Dutch legislator is barred from the UK for saying that moslems do bad things.
Go figure.

He should change his name to Mohamad Towsend then there would’t be any problems.

If he was cleared then what's the big deal?
Let's just have thug rappers do halftime shows, they're decent people.

Agree. And most groups wouldn’t mind having rappers with rapp sheets be on the show, i.e. Snoop Dog, Kanye West, Rapper TI, 50-Cent, Suge Knight to name a few. Yeah these are decent people.

Ah, The Guess Who, whose American Woman was a total dissing of the US, a proclamation that they didn’t need our ghetto machine, our bright lights, etc. The one thing they didn’t refuse or disparage, however, was the Yankee dollar. That they kept.

Randy Bachman was a serious Mormon at the time he wrote that. Perhaps it wasn’t the liberal dissing that one would assume, if it were written today.

I’m glad I never really paid attention to song lyrics when I was younger.

Im not watching unless they book Pat Boone. Now THAT is funny!
To: Justaham
Can’t they just relax? It’s only half of the Who, they can claim half victory!
To: Artemis Webb
Pat's gone bad, too!
To: Justaham
I thought was all cleared up when Pete said it was “research”.

It helps to know what you are talking about. He was found to be innocent. He never had a membership to a child porn site, he had no child porn on his computer, and there was no child porn found in his house of office.
Someone went to a child porn site and then left from his computer. They could not get anywhere or see anything without a paid membership and that never existed.
It is easy to accuse people of this type of crime and it has hurt his reputation. There simply was never any evidence for charges and there was no conviction of any kind. All of this is public information in the UK press. It seems like the author of this doesn't want to know the truth.

But they’ve got a new hit song:

I know everyone of you,
I’ll call the cops
So one last time,

I have always been a big fan of the WHO and Pete Townshend but, if what you say is true, why did Pete himself admit to using a credit card to sign up to a child porn site and say he was doing research?

To: TigersEye
The UK press is reporting that there was no monatary transation, no membership, and no posession of child porn.

That doesn't answer my question. When the story first broke Pete himself said he used his credit card to access a child porn site. He gave the explanation of doing research on the subject.
FWIW I tend to accept his explanation in spite of its sounding like the typical lame excuse. There are things in his history that lean towards his being a victim of abuse as a child and as being a crusader for a good cause as an adult. But that's beside the point.

“Pat Boone Syndrome” is another word for being too well behaved when you’re young and having to get it out of your system when you’re older.
