How does Dell propose to differentiate their phones from Google’s own Nexus One Android phone?
And exactly what is different about Mini 3 as compared to the literally hundreds of other smart phones out there?
Seems like another dead end move from Dell to me.
Anyone remember the Dell PDA’s from a few years back? They were pretty good, but then Dell eventually dropped out of that market after making little money in that business.

Dell bringing smartphone to U.S. with AT&T

***********************************EXCERPT***********************************

Dell's smartphone was formally announced late last year and is currently available only in China and Brazil. A source had told Reuters in October that Dell planned to sell a phone in the United States on AT&T's network.

Well...good questions...I was just looking around to see what might be inside of the phone...

If it runs android then the difference would seem to be in the internals.

And here:

Dell Mini 3 headed to AT&T running Android

*******************************EXCERPT*****************************

AT&T 3G. We expect the specs to remain pretty much the same: 3.5-inch 640x360 display, Bluetooth, 3 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash, microSD, and GPS, though we'll have to wait to get that confirmed. And from the looks of that pic of a prototype supplied by Direct2Dell, this Android handset will be custom skinned for AT&T. Look for it to hit sometime in the first half of 2010. Bonus pic after the break.

Hmmmm....
Sounds like a pretty good phone.
We will know in the next few months how it does in the market, both here and in China.

I’m sure it will do as well as the Dell MP3 player did.

Dell has never been much of an innovator - they just copy and follow the market, which generally means they’re late to the party and a generation (or two) behind.

Never been impressed with them since my original Dell System 220 running at a double-clocked and blistering 20mhz.

Dell Mini 3iX Passes the FCC; AT

*****************************EXCERPT*****************************

Posted November 6, 2009 by Chris. Filed under Dell, Android, AT&T, Dell Mini 3iX Passes the FCC; AT&T to Launch It Soon? By know we all know that Dell intends to launch an Android phone in the USA and we also know it's going to be an improved version of the Android smartphone announced for the Chinese market. Today we find out that the FCC has cleared the phone and now we're waiting for an U.S. carrier to pick it up.

The smartphone comes with support for 850/1900 GSM UMTS bands which indicate that AT&T is definitely a good candidate for launching the phone.

The phone comes with a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, 640 x 360 resolution, AGPS, WiFi connectivity, a 3-megapixel camera and

Microsoft Exchange support.

With all the bandwidth problems AT&T has been already having supporting its iPhone base, it seems odd that Dell would pal up with them. These gadgets will only add to the load.

It is getting wild and crazy...Cisco ...assuming they are involved with the innards of the cellphone network somewhere should benefit.

Maybe Dell will give them away with certain Puter deals? My daughter bought my grandson a new Macbook up at the university last fall and it came with a iPod Touch...

I’m sure it will do as well as the Dell MP3 player did.

I wasted $300.00 on the Dell MP-3 player and it lasted about 2 months. It was replaced 4 times in one year (with re-built ones)Once the warranty ran out, they wouldn't replace it anymore. The non-English speaking CSR, did keep offering me a 10% discount on the new and improved MP-3 player though. She couldn't quite understand my frustration. GO FIGURE..

Moral to the story... I would not buy a phone or anything other than a computer from these idiots. Stick to what brought ya to the big dance Mr. Dell.
