Mouse pointer skips and drags too, while typing, the key board repeats letters.

I've tried a different mouse and key board. I have reset the mouse and pointer speed on various speeds.

Are your keyboard and mouse wireless? If so, and you have an external broadband modem (DSL, FIOS etc), the modem may be causing interference with your mouse and/or keyboard. (This happened to me recently). Move the modem a greater distance away, if possible.

Do you have a spaceheater running close to the mouse/keyboard cables, or cell phone on the desk close to the cables?

Maybe,if you’re really a graybeard as I consider myself now, it could be a heavy finger problem. I’ve seen that here.

if running XP try a system restore to before you had no problem.

I’d try a system restore..
Power down the computer, at power up press the F8 key, this will being to to the boot mode selection window , chose SAFE MODE. when the PC boots and is stable , go to Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore, chose a date prior to your problems and restore the system. If that doesn't work try an earlierr date

How old is the computer battery? If it is dead or dying it can effect the keyboard and mouse.
