James Cameron goes from Avatar to Hiroshima (Next film to be about American nuclear attack)
Guardian UK ^ | 1-8-10

When Tsutomu Yamaguchi, a survivor of the 1945 atomic bomb blasts that brought the second world war to an end, died on Monday at the age of 93, the mayor of Nagasaki said that his death marked the loss of "a precious storyteller". Now, however, it appears that Yamaguchi's story may yet reach a whole new audience – courtesy of a big-budget film by Avatar director James Cameron.

Cameron is believed to have met with Yamaguchi on 22 December during a brief promotional trip to Japan. Today, Variety reports that Cameron has bought the film rights to The Last Train to Hiroshima: The Survivors Look Back, a non-fiction book by Charles Pellegrino which is published in the US on 19 January.

Pundits are speculating that the film-maker could be eyeing it as a potential directorial project for himself. The historical subject matter would certainly be a change

Maybe for his next film, he can make a 3d thriller about the Freedom Train, or the Trail of Tears.

Funny, but when I saw Avatar (in 3D) this afternoon, my final thought was...

Wait until the humans nuke your blue punk-asses from orbit.

How about a film that tells the story of the Imperial Japanese Army and their murderous atrocities throughout China, Indo-China and the Phillipines during the 30’s and 40’s?

He could start by collecting his info in Nanjing China...

I heard that at Pearl Harbor, we viciously depleted the ammo stores of MANY Japanese zeros. The USS Arizona is also well-known to have destroyed a number of torpedoes.

Is there no end of treachery of the US military?

Most Americans remain blissfully unaware of the shoddy, rickety worksmanship of the Bridge over the River Kwai —there was LOTS of under-the-breath swearing against Japanese foremanship.

MAKE THE RECORD CLEAR, CAMERON..!! Make things RIGHT!

Cameron on “The Alamo”: Texan religious extremists with apocalyptic visions burn themselves to death in their compound as the forces of Santa Anna look on outside, bewildered and helpless to render aid.

Cameron is a hack.

His second wife, Gale Anne Hurd, produced The Terminator, The Abyss, Aliens, and T2.

After their divorce, everything Cameron has touched has sucked. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

I hope Mike from Wisconsin does an epic YouTube critique on Avatar...like Jorge Lucas, Cameron deserves a righteous skewering.

Correction. After his divorce, Cameron started making a ton of money. Have the top movie in history and most likely the number two (soon) is not a bad gig if you can get it. FREEPERS are very jealous of success which is very surprising because being capitalists and such.

How did the humans attack the aliens in the movie? Was it the usual massed infantry approach (from the 19th century) Cameron used in humans vs machines large scale battles in the Terminator movies? Or was it the kind of thing we're doing in Pakistan - smart bombs dropped from 25,000 feet?

Just saw Avatar.

Went in blissfully unaware of agendas and/or J. Cameron.

I was happy it wasn't a needlessly smut filled movie. I was dissapointed that it made heroes out of the spiritually strong, yet primitive natives, and demons of what were essentially "westerners" - too bad that spirituality focused on "Mother Earth". If it were even indirectly focused on God, who gave us our universe, it would have been good. Regardless, my 13 year old said it was too long.

Growing up in South America I know that the opposite is true.

The native indians, killed each other, sacrificed humans including babies, and yes, worshiped Pacha Mama (Mother Earth), but they did not have Christian values. Although many good people are found among them.

Westerners brought Jesus, advancements, human rights, and education. They did evangelize and did return with gold. So what?

Civilizations that worshipped things other than God are not in a good place. James Cameron wants to portray Mother Earth worshipers as superior. History tells us differently.

Titanic stunk and Avatar is a piece of leftist political drivel.

His early movies (the ones I mentioned in my previous post) are all really good flicks.

The left claims that the N-attacks weer somehow different — but conventional bombing killed far more Japanese:

“Stacked up corpses were being hauled away on lorries. Everywhere there was the stench of the dead and of smoke. I saw the places on the pavement where people had been roasted to death. At last I comprehended first-hand what an air-raid meant. I turned back, sick and scared. Later I learned that 40% of Tokyo was burned that night, that there had been 100,000 casualties and 375,000 left homeless.”

“A month after the March raid, while I was on a visit to Honjo on a particularly beautiful cherry-blossom day, I saw bloated and charred corpses surfacing in the Sumida River. I felt nauseated and even more scared than before.”

“We ourselves were burned out in the fire raid of May 25th 1945. As I ran I kept my eyes on the sky. It was like a fireworks display as the incendiaries exploded. People were aflame, rolling and writhing in agony, screaming piteously for help, but beyond all mortal assistance.”

What liberal slant do you think this skunk will take with this? Will he show the beheading of American soldiers? Will he show the rape and forced prostitution of Japanese and Chinses children at the hands of these murderers? The mass execution of chinese men women and children? He will only show the uncommpassionate, billigerant America murdering Japanese men women and children

A better film would be about the atrocities of socialist-communist nations up to and including endless bread lines, 100 million dead, exportation of revolutions and other wars, purges, gulags, and constant and mindless saber-rattling.

The native indians, killed each other, sacrificed humans including babies, and yes, worshiped Pacha Mama (Mother Earth),

The left forgets the so call tribal "Noble Savage's" of the world were warrior before they ever met a western man....and just who were they warring with?...each other, that who

The left also forgets all peoples (including the evil white man) were the tribal "Noble Savage" at one time.... and it was never really "Noble", just "Savage"

I point out on another thread... remember the opening of Gladiator...where Roman legions is attacking the Germanic tribes?

Would we be better off if Rome never was, if civilization never was... if we just went back to the true reality of all being the tribal "Noble Savage"...
