Pete Carroll is off to the NFL He will meet today with USC players and then begin his transition back to pro football, where he last coached in 1999. I spoke with Carroll early this morning about his decision to leave USC and his new job with the Seattle Seahawks. On the possibility of landing what he considered a perfect NFL opportunity: “I had given up on it, but it came out of nowhere.” On whether he left because of possible NCAA sanctions: “Not in any way. Because I know where we stand. It’s just a process we have to go through. We know we’ve fought hard to do right.” On whether he had any regrets: "I’ve given everything I’ve had. There was never going to be a good time.”

If you make five million, is that not enough? I would think folks at this level are looking for more than just another two million dollars. Perhaps he wants to prove he can win in the NFL

Running as fast as he can before the fan gets hit.

NCAA problems coming down the road, plus increased money = Buh-bye.......

I would think that it is a combination of several factors; money, proving himself, as you state, and USC, which has peaked is headed down, to second and third tier bowl games (like the Emerald Bowl) for the immediate future.

As USC goes down, so does his value. He got out while the getting was good.

It’s easy to get stuck with the so-so label when you follow Parcels. He’s a good coach.
