Posted on 01/12/2010 6:45:07 AM PST by IamConservative
I became familiar with "Jogging in a Jug" from some local Amish folks who sold this product in their general store. Being of sound mind and broadband internet, I looked this product up on the net. Found it to have quite a following. Also found the recipe.
- 1 quart 100% Concord Grape Juice
- 1 quart 100% Apple Juice
- 1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
The cures availed to one who drinks Jogging in a Jug appear to be the stuff of internet legend. So legend in fact that one of the companies that market the product has come under the scrutiny of the FDA, by scrutiny, I mean sued.
I was interested in the antioxidants in the Grape Juice, I like Apple Juice and I need something to take my vitamins with in the morning anyway, so I mixed up a batch.
I've been taking ~6 ounces every morning for a week. I actually like the taste, my wife does not.
I can't report any miracles at this point, but wondering if anyone else out there has tried this tonic and do you have any results to report?
Substitute vodka for the vinegar and we’ll talk. :)
It turned me into a newt.
I only tried it for two weeks and it turned me into:
Kind of reminds me of Kombucha:
I had tons of these things around my house; I was giving them away. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a miracle cure and at the time, they were saying they could cause health problems. It actually tasted alright.
I got better!
(Notice BTW. That’s Lancelot behind him with the leather cap on.)
Looks like your case is terminal.
apple cider vinegar is a pretty well known natural aid, particularly for digestion. (all other sorts of claims have been made about it, from weight loss to cancer prevention. )
Let us know if you have a miraculous health overhaul.
I don’t know how great it is for weight. Many Amish girls I remember were kinda chunky.
My father was into that in the 60s. Didn’t impress me.
Want something tasty and good for you? Ginger. Go to an Asian store and buy some candied ginger, or ginger glace. Ginger has a myriad of health benefits. Digestion, motion sickness.
Apple Cider Vinegar has a history of usage for a wide variety of conditions. I think it’s good stuff.
I don’t think there is any “magic bullet” for all the health concerns humans have. Each ingredient in this product by itself has health benefits.
I remember when that stuff was being sold down here 40 years ago.
That sounds like it would be very hard on your tooth enamel.
That article makes one think about the old “good for what ails you” tonic salesman.
Grape juice, unfiltered apple juice, and unfiltered apple cider vinegar have beneficial polyphenols. These substances are antioxidants and the resveratrol in red grape juice and red wine has anti-aging properties.
