I think in Haiti they have the “Five-Year Rule”.
I guess muffin stumps are out of the question?
Maybe they just don’t like the People Chow Biscuits? lol
This looks sort of like professional agitators trying to discredit aid efforts. Do they have an organized communist party down there? Maybe these are agents from Cuba or Venezuela!
I doubt they taste any good
If I were starving to death, I think I might take a chance on an expired cookie.
Heck, if I were starving I would eat anything so long as it isn’t moldy and covered with maggots. I don’t pay attention to expiration dates! I go by how the food looks and smells. Most foods are good past their exp dates, that is just the last date the foods can be sold, not the last date they can be eaten.
After Hurricane Ike in 2008 we got some MREs. Those are chalky and nasty, at least the ones I tasted were. But if HUNGRY, I will devour them! WITH GUSTO!
Take it or leave it schmucks!
Most food is good for years after the stupid date stamped on it.
Katrina was no worse than Ike, Alicia, Rita, Allen, Fredrick, Bonnie, Allison, Claudette, etc etc etc. It just got all the political attention. And Cedar Rapids Iowa floods in June 2008 were a lot worse than Katrina and Ike put together. We had NO looting after Ike! We all helped each other. It is a Texas state of mind.
I was thinking more of the attitude of the afflicted. I worked several hurricanes as an emergency responder and saw nothing, even Andrew, that approached the gimme that Katrina produced. Same here.
Looter guys relatives.
A big problem with Haiti is that the average IQ is only 72.
No, I am not kidding. 72.
When many on this thread talk about the problem being the socialist government, the truth on the ground is that for most Haitians, there is no government. It's anarchy with a strong man coming by and beating the ever loving snot out of people, mixed with gangs stealing everything in sight. That said, I ran into many kind and caring people there, but it only takes one axe murderer to ruin an evening.
No doubt.
Someone had shouted, “Food no good!” The people may have thought the food wasn’t just expired, but poisonous.
I’m sure they’re used to eating old, stale food. They may have thought they were being poisoned. It seems like a reasonable fear...
It is not that the Haitian government is socialist, we all know it has been primarily a succession of dictatorships, it is that Haiti as a whole is a welfare state of the world. The reality on the ground is anarchy, as you say, which is the inevitable result of becoming entirely dependent.
This is going to be real real ugly.
what do you expect from a people who pile dead bodies up as a roadblock to protest not getting help fast enought. We are not exactly talking about brain surgons here.
I agree with you; he came up with that $100M figure awful quick.
The money is probably sitting in a ‘special off-shore presidential account’ and will be dispersed as soon as possible so that “JOE” can keep track of it-cause nobody messes with Joe.
