The problem is most likely with Earthlink. They recently did an upgrade to their DNS servers. They have routing problems associated with that up grade but when you talk to “Steve” at Earthlink they won't admit to it. See the following links

I had similar problems. My wifes PC would not get out but our Macs could get out albeit somewhat sporadically and slow.
Change your DNS settings to OpenDNS (free at basic level)
Open DNS is 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.222.220
Once I did that problem resolved. Earthlink customer service really sucks and I dread having to talk to them

I’m using EarthLink’s own DNS servers (configured on my router) and don’t have speed issues. Must be the connection in my area, which seems to be working okay.

Please look into OpenDNS.com. It’s free and has fast lookups.
