"How does it feel being an African American Coach going to the Super Bowl?" (Vanity)
25 January 2010 | Mind Freed

Posted on 01/25/2010 11:48:03 AM PST by Mind Freed

That was the question posed to Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell. After hearing this question I started wondering if African American (I hate that title) Coaches were somehow inferior. I mean why else would a reporter feel the need to ask this question? Is it not the same to a Caucasian coach if he gets to the super bowl? Is it not the same level of coaching involved? Coach Caldwell did a fantastic job with his Football team this season, and not because he happens to be black. Your ethnicity does not give you an advantage in coaching football. The more that these types of questions are asked, the longer this country is going to be divided.

When the Colts and the Bears were in the super bowl in 2006, the big story wasn't the game that was about to be played... it was two black head coaches in the super bowl for the first time. I don't think that either coach stayed up the night before thinking about being black and coaching a super bowl game, I think they were thinking about strategy and how good it felt to get to that point... like every other coach in any sport would have been thinking.

The press does it's best to promote racial tensions, that is for sure.

Tony Dungy and Mike Tomlin are two recent African American coaches that won SuperBowls. I think it’s time to retire this tripe.

"Your ethnicity does not give you an advantage in coaching football. "

Maybe for kicker or defensive corner but not coaching.

"How does it feel being an African American Coach going to the Super Bowl?"

What we have here is a little social concern. The media is highly desirous of seeing a black coach succeed.

Hold on, the phone is ringing. Hello, pepsi here. what? Are you serious? Oh. I see. [click]

ESPN just fired me.

From an objective standpoint it’s a racist question, the left has turned everything upside down.

I really wish he’d have said, “Probably the same as a white coach feels going to the Super Bowl. Why do you ask?”

Why do people use African American and Caucasian?

If they use African American they should use Europian American.

If they want to use Caucasion they should use Negroid and Mongoloid.

My guess would be “Roughly the same as it feels to be a Caucasian-American coach going to the Super Bowl”. But that’s just me.

Fans don't see "blackcoach." Players don't see "blackcoach." Only the dumbass media sees "blackcoach."

The rest of us see coach. Period.

When Dungy faced Lovie Smith he was asked this or a similiar question and he replied to the effect that it was more important he and Lovie were Christians than African-Americans.

This wasn’t really an interview. It was the post game press conference aired on ESPN. Not sure who the reporter worked for, it wasn’t shown who the question actually came from.

I’m not much of a sports fan so I’m not familiar with this man. Is this coach light-skinned? Does he have a negro dialect?

"Caucasion" only applies to the Eur-Asian-African population with origins among the Indo-European or Afro-semitic speaking peoples.

It doesn't apply to the Europeans with other origins, e.g. Finno-Ugric (without previous Indo-European language history).

No Caucasian coach has ever won the Super Bowl. At least none of the names on the list looks Armenian, Georgian, Azerbaijani, Ossetian, Abkhazian, Lezgi, or Chechen.

If you had put Peyton Manning on the St. Louis offense this year, he’d be watching the Super Bowl at home. One player can only be credited so much with success.

And, I've always found it interesting that the most famous Dallas Cowboys was an Indian. Tom Landry, IIRC, was over half American Indian. Being a little less than half Cherokee myself, that's pretty cool. Landry, however, never played racial politics and was simply for nearly thirty years, "the only coach the Dallas Cowboys have ever had."

Funny story, at the close of Jimmy Johnson's first game as Cowboys head coach, a 28-0 loss to the Saints, one of the announcers said, "And Tom Landry remains the only coach the Dallas Cowboys have ever scored a point for."

It certainly should be Negroid American seeing how any white person who happens to have been born in Africa such as my wife (South Africa in this case)and therefore is ACTUALLY African American is informed they are not permitted to be considered African American for the basis of our Government run Spoils System because she is not “from one of the black racial groups of Africa.”

Totally agree - who gives a flying fee fee! Funny how no one asked about the owner and coach thanking the All Mighty for all their blessings...seemed to slip by un- noticed...hmmmm.

And Lovie clearly forgot his faith when he supported Obama. I brought this up to a black friend- what’s more important to you, voting for a man who shares your faith and values, or a man who shares your race. He was stunned- and silent.

So what “race” are the Finns? Surely their language pattern is different but are they genetically different also?

Not all white folk are descendants of people from the Caucusus. Most are, of course, but not all.

Finns have several different groups in their background. One such group consists of the Indo-European speaking Swedes. Another consists of the Indo-European speaking Russians. There were also Uralic/Altaic speaking people who came there and left genes. Then, there are the Sa'ami.

Today's modern Sa'ami languages are classified as Finno-Ugric mostly on the basis of common vocabulary. In reality, they have many grammatical functions of demonstrably ancient origin that have their counterparts in nothing less than Ancient Sumerian. That language may be a cognate of a Dravidian language in existence 7000 years ago.

The Sa'ami themselves are a genetic isolate although the Skolt appear to have had outside contact about 7000 years ago.

Anything from 7000 years ago is a tad BEFORE the creation of any of the Caucasion languages or ethnic groups. They were just wild, nekkid savages in those days.

Europe has several other non-Indo European languages. The best known is Basque which probably dates to the Ice Age.

Oh, forgot to answer the question ~ Finns, like many other groups in the far North, tend to be blond. Almost any picture of a bunch of Finns shows blonds. Check the eyes! You’ll see some differences. They, themselves, recognize the blue eyed folks as being different from the light gray eyed folks.
