Wife is looking for a job as a paralegal in the Wash. DC area. Been nearly a year now, a few nibbles but no bites. She has a MS in criminal justice, I don’t know what the issue is.

Thanks for sharing. I am at such a dysfunctional company and am looking to bail out as are the two other sensible people there.

I have a decent job yet I have been relegated to the office until things pick up.

I am also attending culinary school and I am looking to pick up a second job when I am finished.

I am located in Ogden, UT

My personal motto in life is, “Don’t quit your job until you find another one.”

I hope the links above will help.

Great...

The links above should be helpful.

I know at one point of my life I had 4 part-time jobs until I got the career job I was looking for.

After a long year and some change, my actual job is almost ready to greenlight but now I seem to be encountering the most resistance from certain elements of HQ who apparently want this branch to fail. However I am pegged for field work sometimes and that makes things more tolerable. I am still working on laying plans to go work for myself and building some clients.

I noticed an interesting way to make a few bucks or a possible living for those with energy and a little initiative.

Sign up for an annual membership on the genealogy websites (like ancestry.com) and then offer your services in the local paper...such services being the research of family genealogy.

Many folks are willing to pay for such research but cannot or will not learn the intricacies of such sites and, as such, are unwilling to make long-term commitments to such sites that are often needed.

Use your imagination...and good luck!

There are tons of Non-profits in DC & VA - who may need paralegals...GWSAE (Greater Washington Ass'n of Association Execs) has a job posting, at least they used to.

Network, attend receptions, parties, DC Bar functions, voluntary bar, Court stuff. Even though unemployment is "low" in DC, in a tough economy it's more, not less, of "who you know."

There's the temp-to-permanent route, too.

Just thinking out loud. All the best to your wife andyou.
