Is anybody watching the Grammy's? I don't usually but happened to tune in right when Celine and Carrie and Usher and Jennifer Hudson did a Michael Jackson number...but it was all about the trees and butterflies...however, the music was nice.

I think today’s music sucks. I’m officially old, now.

So far nothing outrageous (during the time I have had it on).

Bon Jovi performed (1st time on the Grammy’s).

Michael Jackson’s 2 children both accepted a lifetime award for their father and they each gave a little speech. The boy did a great job despite being very obviously nervous.

They both called Michael Jackson “daddy” and it was sort of amazing to hear that.

So far, Pink, Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band, Mary J Blige/Andrea Bochelli were the best. Pink, by far, has the most natural, unforced singing voice out there. And that Cirque Du Soleil performance was just wicked crazy.

I'll never understand why people watch The Grammies or The Oscars.

Don't you realize how much those people hate your guts?

They probably hate your guts more than I hate theirs.

oh = glad for that update. Did not tune in in time to see Pink (and don’t know who or what that is)...but did see Andrea Boccelli (he is the Italian guy?) sing - but who was the black lady singing with him?

Well, for some reason Beyonce grabbed her crotch at the very beginning when she was performing. Taylor Swift (who I do like) seemed to be terribly off key when singing with Stevie Nicks. The Michael Jackson tribute was weird. When his son came out to accept the award given the MJ, I thought the kid looked like he had aged about 5 years since the funeral.

Taylor Swift proved once again she is not capable of singing live...as I told my wife, flatter than a week old beer.

Well, um, yes I do understand that.

However, I just happened upon the Grammy’s (didn’t know they were on) right during the start of the Michael Jackson number and have kept it on.

I usually appreciate talent even when it is going in a Godless direction....

But, I get it, ok?

Well-I am watching it this year but I don’t know why. Pink’s act was breathtaking but the rest is such a love fest that I don’t get, at all...in fact...I agree with edpc, I am just too old to get it now.

Mary J Blige. She was incredible with him. Biggest fraud of the night has to be Taylor Swift. She was absolutely AWFUL. Stevie Nicks looks astonished and uncomfortable singing with her.

Stevie voice was not suited to Taylor’s lyrics-—both went off key and MY GOSH....poor Roberta Flack....that was painful but I give her kudos for trying!

I have to admit I have never seen Michael Jackson’s children before - their faces.

The son did a very nice job - was clearly trying not to forget his speech.

Felt sorrow for both the children - but am actually glad they had family members with them and gave tribute to their grandparents who have been taking care of them.

I refuse to watch the Grammy’s for exactly this reason. As one of my friend’s bumper stickers says, “You’re not getting older, the music just sucks”.

How did Steve Weiss and the 1o’clock lab band do? Several folks from University of North Texas were nominated for awards... Anyone know?

Well, hey, they are having a lot of “oldies” out there tonight.

Roberta Flack, Placido Domingo (gave an award), Bon Jovi, Celine Dion - just to name a few...

Boy, they showed pictures of all the “artists” who have died this year and I was stunned there were so many.

I knew about a few of them, of course, such as Mary Travers of Peter Paul and Mary - and of course - MJ.

But there wee a LOT I did not know had died this year.

Oh - I don’t know - actually they haven’t presented many awards while I have been watching...just performances and a few awards.

(go to Grammy.com - expect you can find out about your question there).

She has been around for around ten years or so. Sings a kind of rock/pop brand of singing but dtr says she tries to be punk. She put on one heck of an amazing performance...very Cirque de Soliel (sp) style.

OH - no wonder I don’t know about her.

Is she a “new” singer? (as in, her music has become popular in recent years?) Another reason I wouldn’t know about her.

(But, even some punk rockers are talented...I just don’t care about their music or haven’t in the past).....and, yes, I am old.

I don’t know.

Did you see Carrie Underwood? I have heard she is engaged. She looked different - not sure what it was.....but beautiful as always.

Have they given out any country song/album awards yet? Carrie usually wins one or more of those. I have followed her since AI days....to a degree...and have enjoyed her songs.

I think Pink’s been around for around 10 years and she might have an okay voice (whatever that means for newer music), but I don’t listen to her enough to make any educated comment. My wife likes her, but we listen to bluegrass and some country when we’re in the car together...mutually enjoyed music.

And Carrie looked beautiful-her dress was smashing and thought it was kinda nice that she didn't have boobs falling out all over the place. LOL
