Just started getting the 'Storm Fade' effect from "Snowmageddon"..have lost most of my DirecTV channels to one degee or another. Still getting my local channels though (off my roof attenna no doubt, but still digital. I gotta admit i'm curious as to how long it will last (the outage) considering the intensity of the storm. But considering my usual TV fare for Friday nights, is Ghost Whisperer, Medium, and Numb3rs, that and a large list of movies at Netflix to watch instantly, i'm not all gthat put out. Shame Hulu doesn't have a deal with CBS, so that if the locals go out too, I'd be able to catch their line-up tommorrow if the outage gets that bad.
Battery Packs fully vharged, fridge and pantry stocked, and extra milk and bread out in the car trunk for an extended snow boundinding...Snug as a bug in a hearth rug.
CBS streams most of its shows, with a 1 day delay (IIRC).
You could try SURFTHECHANNEL.COM, but beware of Malware.
Sprayed your dish with Pam or WD-40 yet?
Are you able to keep the dish clean of snow?

I don’t get it. I have Direct tv too, I live in da UP and we have 175” of snow so far. I hardly ever have any problems with getting programs in. The only time they get messed up is if the snow piles up on the dish. Course the wind blows here all the time. And it’s so cold the snows light and fluffy most of the time.
No I haven’t. But I’ll consider it if I find my dish covered with snow tomorrow.

I’ve never had snow build up on my sdish. But occasionallywhen the most intense part of a storm is directly between my dish and the sat...I’ll get signal fade, but it doesn’t happen that much, or usually for very long.
But with this particular storm, moving in line, I expect that the worst part ofg it is no just going to be a quick poke throug, but more like beig on one side of a passing train, and the sat on the other, and this storm is several states long.
I can’t understand why lowlanders get so worked up over a foot or two of snow.
Bigger dish and a heater is about the only way.
I had a 12 foot dish when I was out in CA ...
So far the only thing that has knocked out my DirecTV is a heavy wet snow that formed ice on the dish. Once we knocked that off, and reset the receiver, it worked again.
I’m in my city in Ohio. The worst of the storm will pass to the south, but even still, we’re looking at 6 to 12”. If the storm were right over us, we’d prolly get our full signals back sooner, as well as a lot more snow. Won’t be travelling *any*where for a few days as it is.
It would be ironic if this blizzard cut into the Weather Channel’s ratings.

Did not encounter snow down here,but I did encounter rain.Suggested to folks to put a garbage bag over their dish and feedhorn to keep rain from getting between feedhorn and dish ,worked for the most part.Reckon with snow you’d have to get the bag real tight.If you try it,I hope it works.
It would indeed. But It appears I was fearing the worst. I was contacted by a helpful soul, who is “in the know” as it were, and after checking my signal strength, I found them all strong, and all of my channels back to full quality.
So it looks like I’m good for a nice snowy weekend at home.
