LOTR fanatic reaps fruit of labour as her £25,000 prequel scores 500,000 views on the internet
Daily Mail ^ | February 10, 2010 | Andrew Levy

One cost more than £200 million, took eight years to film using the spectacular scenery of New Zealand and won 17 Oscars. The other cost £25,000, was filmed over a year in muddy English locations, and has not been nominated for any awards. But for Lord Of The Rings trilogy fanatic Kate Madison, filming a prequel was the purest form of art - a labour of love.

Fabulous. My son and I will sit down and watch it together (if we have electricity, that is). The trailer is good, though I see some touches of amateurism. So desperate for LOTR now that I’d watch almost anything. How can I possibly wait for the Hobbit in 2011, and why does it have to be in two parts?

Orks?

I think they meant people from Ork. One, called Mork, had a friend called Mindy.

I watched it, it’s really amazing that she was able to make a nicely done mini-movie for so little money. Good quality film and sound, nice plot line and actors/costumes. Two pats on the back for a job well done. She should have producers knocking on her door soon.

Saul Zaentz owns every word, period and comma of LOTR. And he’s VERY tenacious about protecting his property.

Indeed he is. Zaentz is the man who famously sued John Fogerty for sounding too much like the lead singer of Creedence Clearwater Revival.

That’s right. I can’t imagine this lady would know everything about LOTR and not know about Zaentz so she most likely did it for the love of the project and not to make any money. Saul is watching.

Cool! I’ll have to check it out! Haven’t watched “The Movies” in quite a while! I need to rectify that situation!

The trailer is as good as some ‘serious’ and big-budget Hollywood movies. She might be hit with copyright issue, though, since her orcs look like the ones from the PJ movies.

Unconfirmed rumors are saying that it might not be released until December, 2012.
