For me, I'm sick and tired of Democrats having power and being unwilling to use it. I've always respected Republicans when they had power because they were willing to use it and maybe apologize later.

Today, President Obama walked into the White House briefing room and took some questions, and one of them revolved around recess appointments.

He has watched Republicans block many of his appointments, and now he says he made it clear to them that he will "consider" making some when the U.S. Senate goes into recess.

Ironically, it was not a Republican who blocked the Becker nomination, but none other than Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska).

Recess appointments are a constitutional fact and the President is within his rights to make them. However, his own words may come back to haunt him. As Obama opposed the appointment of John Bolton as US Ambassador to the UN (the best one we've had since Jane Kirkpatrick), he called Bolton "damaged goods" and talked about the US losing credibility. I guess Obama isn't worried, since he already has lost all credibility.

Has anyone in the administration considered that the Republicans are obstructing the Obama agenda because it appears that the American people want them to? More people oppose Obama than support him - that's reason enough to oppose him.

I remember Republican's entertaining a "power sharing" agreement, the Gang of Fourteen, and other quisling ideas but hardly an example of using power like this author intimates.
