This anthem was recgonized as part of Black History Month in Indianapolis. Why is the use of the word negro acceptable during Black History month but not in casual conversation. When can we settle an identifier for the Negro race without being called racist for using a word such as negro, black, darkie (my great-great-grandmother) or African American?

Good question, but it’s a good song.

I find the young Jesse Jackson’s stereotypical “Afro” hairstyle racist.

It won't happen until the blacks stop buying into the doctrine of victimization espoused by poverty pimps like Jackson and Sharpton, and now Obama and Holder. Now that the Civil Rights Act and followup legislation has made discrimination illegal in this country, professional "victims" need to be able to fall back on the fact that they have been "insulted" because they were referred to by a name that had gone out of favor one, five, or ten years ago.

You must be even sillier than I am since I have no idea what you’re talking about.

I don’t know the answer. The link gives a history of sort. We have a “Black History Month” and the song was a part of a celebration here in Indianapolis as reported on the 11:00 PM news.

3rd verse is my favorite:
God of our weary years, God of our silent tears,
Thou Who hast brought us thus far on the way;
Thou Who hast by Thy might, led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee.
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee.
Shadowed beneath Thy hand, may we forever stand,
True to our God, true to our native land.

why not just the national anthem? where's the korean national anthem, the european national anthem, or the south-african white-african (non-african-American) national anthem? screw the "black national anthem."

our country has ONE national anthem, and it IS for all of us!

black history month... phhhffft!!!!!!!!!!!1

I suppose next the gays will want their own national anthem.

I propose, "Lola", by whichever group sung it.

Sang it?

Singed it?

Great tune, nice video..! Except for people getting hanged and beaten by whitey of course....

Anyone wonder why the tail bit of the video showed less than 10 seconds of MLK?

Because if they show more than that, they have to PAY..! They’d have to pay A LOT..! And if they didn’t, they’d get sued to the gills by MLK’s super greedy surviving family.

Public schools have to get exotic levels of permission to play the whole “I Have A Dream” speech, and it is VERY moving —most of us have heard only the most famous little snippets, assuming that we have also heard the rest, but that is not so.

Imagine being CHARGED to listen to a JFK speech.

Well, let's see ..... I kinda like the sound of your screen name. Is it OK if we start referring to you as "Bronzies"?

(Except that in Australia, I think you might be confused with the cops.)
