But it’s good to know that there are other methods of screening out that that are less invasive.

"The dreaded colonoscopy ..."

The only reason it is dreaded is the day before the procedure!

The medical commercials nowdays are absolutely pathetic...

Heard another one this morning for a particular hospital....Where they repeatedly stated, "Try us first"

The medical profession has most of the elderly all strung out of drugs...It's just pathetic....

Well, for starters, 66,882,230 people would be ineligible for this procedure due to the cranial blockage in their colon.

Colon cancer killed my father at age 63. I've had 3 colonoscopys and slept through them all. The prep is the bitch and not the procedure. Please don't put this test off...I know from up-close observation that colon cancer is not a nice way to die.

My doctor told me there is 1 in 1000 chance that my colon could be perforated by the exam. No thanks...

The colonoscopy procedure is no problem...I was knocked out and don’t remember a thing. However the “prep” the day before is nasty, but if you go on a clear liquid diet for a day before the cleanout it is not so bad.. I also have had a barium enema to visualize parts of my colon that could not be scoped. You check your dignity at the door for that procedure.

For those who haven’t had it done, colonoscopy is much easier than it was even 5 years ago.

Most facilities knock you out which eliminates the fear factor.

The prep was more of an issue than the actual proceedure.

Skip it if you want to risk early cancer not being caught. After 60 and by the time you reach 80 you will very likely have colon cancer. The non-invasive tests are nowhere near as reliable.

The feared poke and prod is not that bad and the worst part is taking the nasty laxative juice before. The procedure was painless, I was awake for most of it and there was no pain or after effects other than an incredible desire for a four course meal. I’m now considered good for another 10 years.

One thing this shows is that people want to make their own decisions about health care. They have their own reasons for what they will and will not subject themselves to. They will lose that freedom if the government takes over.

Don't skip a colonoscopy.

It's too important to catch it early, and if you have a family history of colon cancer, it's good to stay on top of it.

I had my first this year. Can't say it was fun, but it wasn't anywhere nearly as bad as I feared it would be. And I was digestive trouble at the time.

Your life is too important to skip such an important and effective screen.

They should give them out during Opening Day this spring and maybe at the Super Bowl.

I went to the family doctor at 39 for the test knowing
it was almost 100% they’d recommend a colonoscopy.

Never had it, I did not have the money nor insurance and
I did not care for the possible do-over every 5-10 yrs
nor the minute possibility of scraping a colon wall.

I tried lots of variations on diet and exercise before
an accidental visit to a chiropractor about 5 years ago.
I’m 48 now with no bloody stools and regular healthy bm.

It was the best ‘medicine’ and least costly even though
I’ve spent an avg of 1k/yr. My overall health is improved
and imho better than I was even at 28.

I still vaguely remember the visit to our first family
doctor when I was maybe 5-6 telling my mother that my
late potty-training problems were ‘all in my head’, rather
than simply admitting that he could find no problems. Now
I’m fairly certain it was subluxations in my lower back most
probably from child-birth seeing as how I had problems much
earlier than most of the adult population.

See my homepage for more chiro details.
