Hey, even chicken pox!! I laughed at that vaccine when it came out. Seriously, when I was a kid, it was like “WOOHOOOO I got the chicken pox! No school for 2 weeks!!!” and then they made it a mandatory vaccine for kids in our county. Well... my middle daughter got the vaccine and then got the chicken pox a few years later. It happens apparently, some do still catch it. However even WITH the vaccine she had nearly 100 pox, one under her eyelid!! Her pediatrician said “THIS is what the vaccine is for. Your daughter would be near death without the vaccine because if she has this bad with it, imagine without it.” And sure enough, instead of a two week outbreak, it was only a week with just 2 days of fever. I was grateful she had the vax at that point.

I got chicken pox at age 19. Vaccine came out about a year or two later.

I would have preferred the vaccine.

Funny story, though. I caught the chicken pox from my girlfriend at the time's seven year old brother during a car ride home from a graduation. I noticed him itching and looking uncomfortable, but they told me he had poison ivy so don't worry about it. Two days later, I found out he had chicken pox. Two weeks later, it got me while I was celebrating the end of the incubation period for chicken pox.

Chicken pox sucked.
