If you like classics, and you are old enough to remember the 50's and the 60's, or just like the classic cars of those years then you will love this trip down memory lane. The guy that put this together is an obvious conservative patriot who loves America. I know from the sites that he links to this classic car site of his. If you need a brake from the news, or just want to go down memory lane then you really need to check out his video slide show of the;

This brought back memories of the time my dad would take us kids to the A&W drive-in on Friday nights. I also remember thinking that I could not wait to get my drivers license so I could take my girlfriend Becky for a cruise down main. Ahh, those were the days.

Somehow, the idea of cruising down main with my arms around my girl while showing of my new Ford Fusion just don't seem cool.

As much as I get a bit jealous about all the great gadgets and modern day conveniences the younger people have today, I actually feel sorry for them.

They will never ever be able to experience what it really meant to grow up in a great country you could brag to your grandchildren about, and actually know they wish they were there to experience it themselves.

Speak for yourself! I still work on our cars. I did a brake job on the Boxster last Sunday.

Now, to do much, you’d best have a laptop, some software and an OBD-II cable so you can pull error codes from the car’s ECUs and such.

Wassamatter? You got something against a 3rd world environment? Don’t wake these kids up — they might just riot if you took them to the 50s and back again.

My father until the day he died always regretted selling his 1957 chevy that had a corvette engine in it. He sold it because Mom couldn’t drive it. There is a photo of me when I was about a year old sitting on the hood of that car. I was probably under 3yo when they sold it for a more family friendly car.

Check out this story of a man who used a propane barbecue tank to fuel his car. He was charged with operating an unsafe motor vehicle. The 53-year old Sarnia city man was ticketed by the police for jerry rigging his car that was spotted by a cop patrolling in the area. The cop said that the hood of the car was obstructing the driver’s view.

When the officers stopped the vehicle, they discovered the hood tied down with a rope. Underneath the hood, a propane tank from a backyard barbecue was sitting on top of the hot engine block. The propane tank was connected to the car’s engine with a rubber hose, apparently to the fuel-injection system.

The Police said that they have driven cruisers fueled with propane, “but they were production models.”

Imagine that, unless a licensed bonded business modifies your vehicle, you will be charged and fined. Imagine if such laws were around when men modified their vehicles all the time to turn them into what they wanted?

It was a short article from a story that no longer exists on the original site, but but I looked around the web and found the rest of the information. Nothing like a little investigation to get the morning going. Anyway I started off this story;

“Where were you in ‘62?”

I was dragging Tenth Street in Modesto, in a classic white T-Bird convertible.

Fun times.

My Father had his 1978 Dodge Crew Cab with a 400 cu. in. engine altered so it would run on propane and gas. It originally came with duel 18 gallon gas tanks and he had it professional altered and added a 60 gallon (approx. propane is weighed) propane tank in the bed of the truck. Flip two switches on the dash and you could go from gas to propane or reverse.

I sold it a few years ago to a black guy who still drives it around town.

My Father had to buy a tax sticker each year from the state so he could fill the propane tank.
