LOL, Dubai states that not one those 26 pictured has yet come forward.

LOL

Shocked, I tell ya, I'm just shocked.

Here's a long message from a Yahoo Group about crystallography which is about the month long disappearance of Lachlan Cranswick; interestingly, he'd at some point turned down a position at Berkeley because he treasured the 'quality of life' he found in Deep River, Ontario.

I'm posting this simply because I don't recall two of the photos at this link; perhaps there are others who've not seen them, either:

PART OF A LETTER, APPEARING IN A LOCAL NEWSPAPER
North Renfrew Times | Letters to the Editor

http://www.magma.ca/~drcanrt/letters2.html

.......Facts known about the evening of January 18: Lachlan came home from work after a normal day, sent an email at 6:30 pm, put his garbage cans and blue box out at the curb and then went out, apparently walking on a short errand.

His wallet, keys, camera and GPS were left in the house, his car, skis and snowshoes were in the garage, and the front door was unlocked.

Curlers have suggested some scenarios that could fit with these facts:

1. He may have been hit by a vehicle and thrown into a ditch or snowbank.

2. He may have fallen outside and hit his head hard enough to disorient him and cause him to wander. (This could account for the very unlikely course of walking onto the river ice after dark.)

3. He may have agreed to check someone's house or pets. Taking only the key for this house, he may have fallen down some stairs or otherwise come to grief inside it.

Lachlan's next older brother, Rupert, came from his teaching job in Australia and spent more than a week in Deep River.

He knew that Lachlan loved living here and was happy with his work and sports - skiing and snowshoeing as well as curling in the winter and sailing in the summer. He had no history of health problems or medications.

Rupert approved of sending this request for help from the public. Lachlan's eldest brother Dr. Noel Cranswick, his wife and son plan to come from Australia to Deep River on March 27 for five days.

Curling friends searched streets and lanes in town. Local police and the OPP search and rescue team covered the east end trails with snowmobiles and a sniffer dog, but were hampered by rain.

Helicopter searches were done, and the OPP media release spread word of the search from Ottawa to Deep River and beyond.

There are still people in town, however, who do not know that a local resident went missing.

Let's all keep our eyes and ears open, watching for clues such as items of clothing or a house that looks empty with unshovelled paths.

Somewhere there may be a clue that will help us find Lachlan.

Thank you for your help.

In the first few pages, somewhere, in the WS messagethread about Lachlan, one poster mentions great surprise that he would leave finished work on his desk -- as opposed to putting it away, and leaving a clean desk, particularly if he was going to take a few vacation days.

I have no idea what his regular work habits were -- but maybe he left the finished work right out on his desk, prominently for anyone to notice -- because he knew he wasn't going to return??? So that his coworkers could easily locate the finished project???

Also, he's obviously smart enough, that had he chosen to simply disappear altogether and RE-start elsewhere, far far far away under a new identity, seems like he's quite smart enough to pull it off.

Something else noticed as a bit odd at WS is that he put out his recycling bin alongside the garbage -- but the pickup for recyclables was not the next morning, but rather the next week.

Someone who lives in the same town or area as LC mentioned that it was peculiar that he not only put out the garbage, but also put out his recycling the same evening -- the garbage pickup was the next morning, but the recycling pickup wasn't for a week.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/printthread.php?t=95134&pp=25&page=7

"Blue box pickup is every other week. Interestingly, although the next blue box pickup was on Jan 26th, Lachlan's blue box was out by the street the morning of the 19th, beside the garbage bin.

There is something wrong with this entire story; the missing man is a nuclear scientist -- but he was hired to code computers to track the employees' healthcare???

LOL

Asio targets new spy suspects

http://m.news.com.au/WorldNews/fi475403.htm

.....According to two Australian intelligence sources who have been in touch with Fairfax, the three men under surveillance have all emigrated to Israel within the last decade.

One of the men has changed his surname three times, while the other two have changed theirs' twice.

After the name changes the men apparently obtained new Australian passports, which they used to gain entry to a number of countries that are hostile to Israel, including Iran, Syria and Lebanon.

Fairfax believes all three men share an involvement with a European communications company that has a subsidiary in the Middle East.

When two of the men were contacted by Fairfax both denied they had been involved in any kind of espionage activity.

ASIO said it had no comment to make on the case.

Sorry to bother you all, but does anyone happen to know if there is an "Australian PING List" here on Free Republic?

Nuclear scientist Lachlan Cranswick originally from Australia, where his brothers & their families currently live, was last seen leaving his job (in Canada) on January 18, 2010.

There has been so little reportage about Cranswick's disappearance that it's just unbelievable; if any of you happen to ever notice any articles in the Australian press, could you please post a link to the article here in this thread?

Thank you much.

Say, FTD...

Do you suppose that the Indian nuclear scientist who was working on employee health care records and recently committed suicide might be related to the scientist of the same surname, ~ Ananthanarayanan ~ you know, the one who writes quite a few articles about crystallography in the journals????

Perhaps the initial identification of this man as a nuclear scientist was inaccurate in the MSM??
