This little dog is very pregnant and needs out of the pound ASAP before she has her puppies. Our rescue will pay for all of her vetting and expenses if we can find someone willing to foster her and her pups until they are old enough to be adopted.

I think we need some Freepers to come to the rescue.

I just hoped there would be a FReeper out there that had a home. I didn’t put this in the “News” section mind you.

Thank you for the post. I’m about 5 1/2 states away but my prayers go out for this little mom.

Funny to see this post. I was just looking at rescuing a cat for my Dad. His old black cat Tom died last year and he misses him. My Dad’s wife has Alzheimers so another black cat will be familiar to her.
I just left the adoption sites and then saw your post.... funny coinkydink...LOL!

Bet the pretty girl's already placed. Not much cuter pups than from a Beagle.

(The poster types, contemplating your last comment, while swearing he will never have another Beagle in his house again! They don't learn ... at least not like Shepherds!)

I didn’t say they weren’t cute. They are.
And my heart goes out to a pregnant bitch of any breed.
I’ve just had very frustrating experiences trying to explain what’s “off limits” to this one (who is also part Lab.) She’s a great bird dog, by the way, but doesn’t understand or retain the word “NO!” like the Shepherds do.

That’s the problem with hounds. They pick up a scent, and take off after it, assuming you will be right after them.
Bassets are the worst.

For the beagle, when they take off on a scent don't try to follow them. They'll circle back to where they left you. Its part of their hunting instinct. They drive their prey back to you.
I still love to hear that sound beagles make when they hit a scent...beautiful bugling to my ears.
At least thats what the beagles My Pop & I trained and raised as a kid did.
I don't know about bassets. They are good hunters also;but I don't know what they do.

You guys are objecting to this post in General/Chat... I don't object to posting. I just find it curious that there is an entire movement that equates kids and pets. Further, they seem to imagine that every pet has been mistreated and only they can save them. My in-laws are having a home visit to see if they are worthy of a rescue animal. WTF?

What is she bred with?
If she is bred with, and comes from good hunting stock, I might know someone who would take her in.
PS...No fair posting pictures of beagles needing a home. I can’t afford to take in any more!

They'll circle back to where they left you.
Unless they take after a deer........it happens all the time.

The rabbit is the one that circles back, the dog just trails the rabbit. Cottontails have a small home range.
Put that same beagle on a snowshoe hare and they may wind up miles away because the hare has a very large territory.
