Miss. school prom off after lesbian's date request

JACKSON, Miss. – A northern Mississippi school district decided Wednesday not to host a high school prom after a lesbian student demanded she be able to attend with her girlfriend and wear a tuxedo.

The Itawamba County school district's policy requires that senior prom dates be of the opposite sex. The American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi had given the district until Wednesday to change that policy and allow 18-year-old Constance McMillen to escort her girlfriend, who is also a student, to the dance on April 2.

Instead, the school board met and issued a statement announcing it wouldn't host the event at Itawamba County Agricultural High School in Fulton, "due to the distractions to the educational process caused by recent events."

There’s a picture of her on the front of the Clarion Ledger.

She’s a BIG GIRL.

I’ve been up in that area. Beautiful country. Looks untouched, farms everywhere, little junk shops and fruit stands all over. And that’s it.

She did this for attention. That part of the state is like taking a walk back through time, in a good way. Solid folks, nice place to raise kids. Decent church going people.

THAT doesn’t belong there. To force everyone else to except it and demand things go her way or else is bull. That tells you right there how selfish she is.

Now she and her girlfriend got that prom cancelled. Ruined it for everyone for what ? No really, for what ?

So she could BE someone ? All anyone will remember is what a hateful thing she did because she only thought about herself.

What will spring up in its place will be good ol’, corny and restrictive, conservative practices. One man and one woman working as a family unit to raise kids that are taught what makes life work. Men who fight wars to win as quickly and decisively as possible. A tax code that serves to fund the PROPER activities of government and not to further social engineering theories.

I agree.
Americans have been in a politically correct slumber. The left believed the time was right to start "Reforming the Nation in their own Image." They went for it and started ramming everything they could down Americas throat. Well, people started choking on it. They spit it out and took a good look at what the left has been feeding them all these years. They noticed it was poison.
I think there will be a big move to bring our freedoms and morals back, but first the left will try to fight to survive. It's going to cause a great deal of chaos, but in the end the cream will float to the top once again. "The meek shall inherit the earth."

But did you see the rest of her ?

She’s a big un for being so young.

Not that it matters. She’s still selfish.

re: that lesbian is going to be very unpopular with her classmates

And she will blame their narrow-mindedness and intolerance for her lack of popularity, rather than understanding that it was her self-centeredness that brought about the canceling of the prom and the unhappiness of her classmates. She’s a liberal, and she will never accept that her demands to have everyone live life like she wants to live hers will be a source of problems throughout that life.

It’s only a matter of time until she and her partner file a lawsuit against some faithful, lifelong Catholic landlord whose religious tenants prevent him from renting to them. Or they file against a photographer who declines to shoot their wedding although suggesting any number of other photographers who could do just as well but not find their lifestyle offensive to their religious beliefs.

She’s all for First Amendment rights but only as long as they are used to favor her peculiar view of life and not those who disagree with her. The landlord and the photographer are content to live and let live as long as they don’t have to be a part of it. But for a liberal, live and let live means just the opposite. They are entitled to enjoy the lifestyle they embrace, even if it means others have to violate their beliefs.

They had an agenda to push. I suspect if they wanted to they could have gone with out “dates”, and just showed up an the same time. Neither would have gotten any attention, I am guessing that their sexual confusion is not a secret at the school. This gets media attention and the bleeding hearts can feel sorry for them.

If I were the VFW or American Legion I’d offer the banquet room and hire a DJ , print fliers to post and host the prom.

Exactly. The article says both girls are students at the school, so they could simply have each gone to the dance as an individual. Insisting on attending as a romantic couple, with one wearing a tuxedo, is the kind of stupid stunt 18-year-olds think is really edgy and courageous.

Of course. And you can bet, there’s a mother somewhere in the background pushing and egging this on.

That place, everyone knows everyone. The people living there will not take kindly towards what they are doing. I know they do not like the negative attention.

She shoulda knowed better.

I suspect another prom somewhere else only Miss Troublemaker won’t be invited. Private party only. Oh well.

Can they be sued for not having a prom? This could get real interesting. Imagine, a minority having to bear the responsibility for trashing common custom and celebration? Somehow, somewhere, the heteros will be called “homophobic” for establishing common rules of behavior. Oh, the hugh manatee.

A Feb. 5 memo to students laid out the criteria for bringing a date to the prom, and one requirement was that the person must be of the opposite sex.

The ACLU said McMillen approached school officials shortly before the memo went out because she knew same-sex dates had been banned in the past. The ACLU said district officials told McMillen she and her girlfriend wouldn't be allowed to arrive together, that she would not be allowed to wear a tuxedo, and that she and her girlfriend might be asked to leave if their presence made any other students "uncomfortable."

McMillen said she feared she would be thrown out of the prom because "we do live in the Bible Belt."

I agree. The idea of the prom may be an idea whose time has come and gone. The society has changed so much and many proms have become so excessive.

These disgusting lezbos will most likely move out of Mississippi to San Fran or some other pervert capital. Good actions like this is how the South will keep from becoming a magnet to perverts. They will be culled from the herd by moving elsewhere.

re: “The meek shall inherit the earth.”

I can't see that reference without thinking of the great routine done by the fantastic country comedian Jerry Clower, his routine about playing college football and his first game, a game with a Christian college. Are you familiar with it? If not, I'll look it up and share it!

You are absolutely spot-on with your observations! Push has come to shove and we've been in our politically correct slumber long enough. You've (not YOU, “concerned about politics”, but ‘You’ in the Papal use of the word!) got to know when dealing with liberals that they might have a good idea, but they don't know how to go about implementing it. And they especially don't know when enough is enough. They get started down the road and don't know when to stop.

I told you. But really, if she had kept it low key and just went along nice but NOOOOO. SHE had to have things HER way.

I met a lot of people over that way. They are just plain country folk, doing the things they’ve always done.

If 50% of the kids were gay, then yeah, have your prom the way you want it. But having 2 girls demand things go their way ? I don’t think so.

She sure did bring up that bible fast huh ? It still won’t help. They don’t want her there. She should be embarrassed for what she did.

Little moonbat.

The article cites not a single student who seemed bothered by the lesbian couple. It seems the administration and not the students are upset by the lesbian couple.

The school web page http://www.itawambaahs.com/ includes a photos link.

But it seems that they are pretty liberal. They have a black student and in one photo he is touching a white girl. Once I saw this photo I knew a lesbian couple was certainly the next step towards decadence.
