JACKSON, Miss. A northern Mississippi school district decided Wednesday not to host a high school prom after a lesbian student demanded she be able to attend with her girlfriend and wear a tuxedo.
The Itawamba County school district's policy requires that senior prom dates be of the opposite sex. The American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi had given the district until Wednesday to change that policy and allow 18-year-old Constance McMillen to escort her girlfriend, who is also a student, to the dance on April 2.
Instead, the school board met and issued a statement announcing it wouldn't host the event at Itawamba County Agricultural High School in Fulton, "due to the distractions to the educational process caused by recent events."

She’d have to rent Dom Delouise’s tux.
You lost me. What's wrong with acting black if he's black? What's the problem with this? It's not like he's psychologically demented because of his color.
Who are you?
My kids went to proms outside of school. They were held on private property and almost everything was donated.
My oldest son went alone. My youngest went with a date.
There was a strict dress code for both. Back in those days though, no one wanted to switch clothes.
I went to both to make sure that’s where they were.
To this day they still don’t know that. :)
I don’t understand why this girl wants everything her way ? Why doesn’t she have her own prom ? Why should everyone bow down for her ?
I did forget to mention that. Yes, it’s very poor up there.
You see things that break your heart it’s so poor.
Still, it’s their tradition and I agree, there will be a prom, just not one that’s school sponsored.
While I personally find homosexual behavior repulsive and abhorrent, I truly pity the person trapped in that lifestyle in a society that increasingly enables and condones a behavior almost certain to bring them misery. The school should no more indulge this lesbian than they should serve cocktails to students who say they're alcoholics.
I’m someone who is reminding you that the foolishness that is being played out here was played out about 40 years ago when people were screaming and yelling about blacks attending schools with white students. The world was coming to an end, it was the end of our nation, society was crumbling.
The majority of these students will go on to colleges where there are gays and lesbians. They will live in communities and work at jobs with gays and lesbians. If this is how the school is preparing them for life, they are not helping them at all.
If these girls showed up to the prom with each other, there may be 20 minutes worth of whispering amongst the few students who did not know about their proclivity. Now its headlines and an end to a trafdition.
Note it was the administration that ended the traditional dance rather then allow the girls to attend, it was not the lesbians demanding the dance be cancelled.
LOL, yep.
Is she wearing the tux or is the girlfriend ?
I’m confused. Does it matter ? I don’t know about these things. :)
Mississippi - not to be confused with Massachusetts - is the #1 Protestant state and #4 in % of Evangelicals (see chart:http://peacebyjesus.witnesstoday.org/Statistical_Correlations.html) and voted 80% to ban homosexual marriage.
You're making it sound like there are homosexuals everywhere. If fact, less than 2% of the population is dysfunctional, and that number includes the millions of prison inmates who don't have a choice.
These kids may, or may not, ever come across an active homosexual in their entire lives. The concept that there's a large number of these people is another left wing lie.
Like Hitler, the left is using these problem people to push their own anti-family agenda. Anything that draws people away from traditional family values weakens the fabric of this country, and the left will aggrandize it or fully endorse it.
These dysfunctional homosexuals don't need endorsement. Our founding fathers gave them the death penalty, because they knew they were a danger to society. Later, they were given life imprisonment because their molestations weren't considered "violent." As the years passed, they were put in mental institutions, because no one knew what else to do with them. During the Regan years, money was tight, and the states had to cut back on expenses. The homos were let out, but they were suppose to check back once a week. They escaped into the population, and today we have the North American Man/Boy love association teaching men how to rape small children without getting caught. It appears the founding fathers knew what they were taking about.
“the left is using these problem people to push their own anti-family agenda. Anything that draws people away from traditional family values weakens the fabric of this country, and the left will aggrandize it or fully endorse it.”
I have to say I agree 100%.
“Our founding fathers gave them the death penalty, because they knew they were a danger to society.”
____________
Citation please.
The claim was made that the founding fathers provided for the execution of homosexuals. The Constitution allows for the death penalty, but requires due process.
It is the obligation of the person(s) making this claim to cite where in the Constitution or the historical adminsitration of the Constitution the founding fathers called for the execution of homosexuals. It would further support the argument if one could demonstrate that such a thing had ever happened.
In the absence of such proof, I can only assume that this is just made up BS.
Your links do nothing to support the argument. One states that there was punishment attached to sodomy practiced by homo and heterosexuals. One reference talks about rules previous to 1776, before the founding of the nation, again applicable to homo and heterosexuals. Another refers to laws after 1860 applicable to gays and straights. Nothing about the founding fathers calling for the execution of homosexuals as was claimed by “concerned about politics”.
Also, all of these web links seem to be left wing, “we are so oppressed” web sites. Are you really relying on left wing whining to support a ridiculous, indefensible falacy.
As I said, sodomites cite such laws and executions to gain pity. I didn’t investigate the sites Google cites, but merely pointed you to a resource for further investigation.
Frankly, your doubt is surprising, since such laws and executions don’t seem to be a point of contention with either side of the sodomy-vs-normality debate. But perhaps you’re investigating the question for the first time? If so, your ignorance is understandable.
Try some other searches in Google, perhaps. There’s plenty of disputed info, but also plenty that’s undisputed.
I knew a man who had been an elementary school principal in the 1940s, sent there because the school had severe discipline problems.
His solution, corporal punishment, worked very well and redeemed many a student.
But then, a single mother enrolled her 3rd grade son in the school. She supported the two of them not by work, but by litigation, long before it was fashionable. He son was a violent psychopath, and when he would be punished, she would sue the school, and often win.
So even while she was enrolling him, she threatened the principal with a lawsuit if he so much laid a finger on her little monster.
Well, the boy physically attacked his classmates, actively vandalized school property, stole, and finally broke into another classroom and hurled their pet guinea pigs out a high window, to their deaths.
But the principal had a solution. Because he had attacked his classmates during recess, the principal decided that he should no longer take his recess with his 3rd grade peers, but with the 5th grade boys.
And the 5th grade boys did not tolerate his antics, and preceded to pound it out of him. Quickly his mother was at school, threatening a lawsuit. But the principal just shrugged and said that the school was not liable. Her only recourse would be to sue the dirt poor parents of the 5th grade boys.
No money in it for her, she withdrew her son from school and moved on.
I say this, because the students at this high school should find out who was responsible for ruining their prom, by being a litigious dork. Hopefully some of the other girls could explain to her what they think of her taking away their once-in-a-lifetime experience.
..then I realized this is a very good call by the school board!
They knew they'd be mucked in a lawsuit & obnoxious media if they didn't allow the usurpers to wreck the prom...
...and if they did acquiesce, the board probably couldn't look themselves in the mirror...(this is Mississippi after all, the heart of the Bible Belt!)
Good call...!
Let the two dykes deal with the mess now!
OMG
you have got to be kidding me -
A TAPCO magazine!!!!!
(Snerk) Nice pic - did she get a date?
Like I said in Post 56. Let the kids go to the dance. Either they will be tolerated or whispered about, but then there are none of these ridiculous headlines and kids seeking attention aren’t catered to.
Be careful there. That could lead to charges of harassment due to sexual orientation. Also, it could lead to a civil rights lawsuit against the offenders from the sexual deviants. And lord knows whatever else could come up from the queers.
I hope the normal students remember this through their lives. They will be able to say that they were prevented from enjoying their high school prom because a couple of queers ruined it for them. That’ll be nice to tell their kids.
Kids undr 40-45 have no idea how much the culture has collapsed.
and folks thought the 60s were bad
At age 18 do you *really* know who you are? Criminey ....I’m thinkin’ that this teenager probably couldn’t get a date to the prom with a hetero anyway and decided that, to be *cool* and *noticed* this was a novel way-to-go.
I predict that this big life mistake will never go away and will follow her wherever she goes, for the rest of her life.
Should have stuck to it unless they got a court order. Then cancel.
Should have stuck to it unless they got a court order. Then cancel.
Speaking of being stuck. LOL!
Exactly. Some girls go to the prom with their friends. Who would’ve stopped them? But, she wanted to wear a tux, go officially as a “date”, and she got the ACLU involved. It was all about attention and pushing an issue.
Google means there really is that permanent record your teachers warned you about. It's part of every real HR department's due-diligence. Nobody's gonna hire a lawsuit-happy minority.
It’s going to be like a *visible* tattoo ....hard to explain to an employer and difficult to make go away.
That’s an old racist liberal Democrat argument. They always compare race with sexual orientation. They see black and white people as so different from each other that the two dating are equivalent with two people of the same sex dating.
I’ve come across “liberals” who are actually more accepting of the latter. They’d rather see two people of the same race together, even if they’re same-sex couples, than people with different skin colors dating.
These girls could’ve gone to the prom as friends. But, one wanted to wear a tux, escort the other as a date, and then she brought the ACLU into it. The school was right to cancel it. Would it have been OK for a boy to wear a gown to the prom? If that would be OK, then what about people wanting to attend the prom in jeans and t-shirts?
The prom is supposed to be about girls dressing in gowns and boys in tuxedos at a formal event. My friends and I didn’t go to our prom because, back then, we weren’t interested in dressing formally and going to a formal event. It wasn’t our taste. Should we have sued the school to allow us to attend in jeans and t-shirts? If it’s going to be an anything-goes event, why call it a “prom” at all? Why even have a prom?
These girls (and the reporters writing about this story) weren’t thinking it all the way through. The school was right to cancel it. Now the parents are free to rent halls for private proms. These girls’ parents are free to rent a hall, too, for these girls and their friends. No one is entitled to a prom hosted by the school.
She is a cute girl and should get some help then lose weight. She will then have guys lining up wanting to take her out and her journey into looney land will be over.

I agree, and queerness is a mental illness, but I can’t see how the culture and most people’s mentalities concerning this, amongst other immoralities and perversions, can ever go go back to normal. The coming generations are being indoctrinated right in the taxpayer-funded schools to consider this just another lifestyle, and everything possible has been done to “normalise” it. If anything, things will get worse-even when we were kids, who would ever have thought that kids in junior high would consider themselves “queer”? Next up-normalisation of sexual relations with children. Watch the cultural indicators in media, entertainment-just watch.
Just think, if it’s this bad now, how much worse it will be once the presence of God’s Holy Spirit is removed after He removes His Bride.
Federal law GUARANTEES lawyer fees for the ACLU they have no incentive not to sue.
Take out the attorney fee clause (not loser pays) and the ACLU goes away.

I'd like to see the ACLU get the end of some mob justice one day.
this kind of crap is poking the bear
Angry is angry about the wrong things, as always.

There have been more articles lately about pushing back against the homosexual agenda. COURAGE! It's needed.
Thankfully. When they first started, the shock value alone was enough to clap shut the mouths of conservatives. Next, conservatives took their words at face value and believed they meant "monogamy" when they said "marriage". Then the "nice" people tried to rationalize the irrational.
Finally, enough time has passed for a lot of the lies to have been refuted (inflated Kinsey stats, no gay gene, etc) and for many envelope-pushing lawsuits to have taken place, such as the transgendered bathrooms legislation. It clearly shows that they have no intention of stopping at marriage.
Conservatives are late to wake up to the need to spell it out for the unwashed, but even a late awakening can only be good for honing the debate.
And finally, they claimed it was Obama's victory.
I believe in “Love the sinner, not the sin”..but that doesn’t mean you should be forced to party with them..
Bears repeating!
I am not sure I agree. All their doing is compounding one mess with another.
Personally I would let this girl and her girlfriend come, to call it off to the detriment of the other students just causes other problems. God forbid someone ends up hurt because of the fallout.
I’m not buying your rationalizations. Race and sexual deviance are two entirely different things.
And in case you hadn’t noticed, many of the dire predictions made when racial integration was forced by busing instead of stepped in incrementally have, indeed, come true. Just visit any formerly vibrant northeastern city.
Shh. You're not supposed to talk about things like that today.
Thank you. Given the regular bad outcomes at school social events, it’s rather surprising that schools are still holding dances at all. Proms aren’t even a big community interface, as sports events are ... more a nuisance at worst, a minor amusement (a crowd of prom-dressed teens at PetsMart?) at best.
School officials have encouraged students and their parents to organize a private prom.
