Walmart is raising eyebrows after cutting the price of a black Barbie doll to nearly half of that of the doll's white counterpart at one store and possibly others.

The red sticker means it is a clearance item which means this item is discontinued. Walmart always lowers the price on discontinued items to clear shelf space for newer items. It messes with your display if you lots of individual discontinued items taking up space here and there because you have to keep moving stuff around as the number of items on the shelf declines.

That's right! The title of the article could just as easily read, "Walmart guilty of price gouging in sale of White Barbies." The article would go on to say that white customers felt discriminated against, because Walmart, believing that white customers make more money than black customers, would pay more for the doll they wanted, so it jacked up the price. White customers might even make the claim that Walmart was implicitly regarding them as racist pigs who would not buy a black Barbie and would willingly pay more for the white one.

I think Walmart really stepped in it this time. They're going to get it from all sides.

And they didn’t even put a pink dress on the black Barbie! On a lighter note, I gave my daughter an original Russian Barbie complete with a detailed scale AK-74 with bayonet, still in the box. I hated to part with that AK, but I kept the tiny Krinkov for myself.
