You never forget the look or the histrionic, almost terrified mannerisms....especially towards the end.

Maybe they come completely undone when their “purpose” here is fulfilled.

I vividly recall the last time I saw the guy I mentioned.

He was...I don’t know...different...empty...not his usual self, as though something had “left” him and he was scared but jumpy and giggly at the same time.

I felt something was extremely “wrong” about him that day and a few days later...he was gone.

I will always regret not being able to help him, somehow.

As far as I know, only I and his poor abused girlfriend even mourned him.

FWIW, I can *not* physically abide watching or listening to her or her puppet[master?] at *all*.
